Reviewing Obstetrics Details by Providers

The provider reviews the information entered by the intake staff to determine if any additions or changes are required. The information documented by the nursing staff on the Intake template displays on the Home Page template for the provider's review. You can update the information on the Intake and SOAP templates. NextGen Healthcarerecommends that providers begin the visit by reviewing the patient details on the Home Page - Obstetrics template. Intake Template

In the Intake template, after selecting the Obstetrics specialty and the OB Prenatal Initial visit type, to document the patient information for the OB Prenatal Initial workflow, you can: View the alerts Record vital signs Document medications Document allergies Document a urine dipstick result Perform a depression check, if desired you may also use links to access additional templates, as needed: Standing Orders Adult Immunizations Peds Immunizations My Plan Procedures Order Management Update Lab Results Note: You can customize the links for the practice and associate them with a particular template so that different links can appear on different templates, if desired. Obstetrics Histories Template

The Histories template contains nine panels: Pregnancy History Gravidity/Parity Since Last Menstrual Period Medical/Infection History Medical/Surgical/Interim General Family Social Genetic Screening/Teratology Counseling OB Histories template The Histories template displays gravidity/parity, initial/working EDD, working EGA, blood type and Rh, and risk level as in Gestational Age template. After a complete history is taken, use the Risk Factors link to document the risk level. Note: When documenting risk factors, the practice may decide to only indicate the positive items rather than select negative for all of the remaining items. In addition, putting the actual risk level must be done by the provider. This may be done on this template or on the Prenatal Detail template. Document the OB Histories Template

To document information in the OB Histories template, select the Histories tab. By default, all panels on this template are expanded when the template is opened. Document the Pregnancy History Panel You can document pregnancy history information in the Pregnancy History panel. Document the Gravidity/Parity Panel You can quickly view the patient's gravidity and parity and can only document multiple births information in the Gravidity/Parity panel. Document the Since Last Menstrual Period Panel You can document last menstrual period information in the Since Last Menstrual Period panel. Document the Medical/Infection History Panel You can document the medical infection history information in the Medical/Infection History panel. Review of Orthopedic Details by Intake Staff

The intake staff begins the current encounter on the Intake template. They can review the patient details documented during the previous encounters on the Home Page - ORT template. The Home Page - ORT template displays the information documented by the intake staff on the Intake and Histories templates for the provider's review. OB Intake Staff Workflow

The intake staff workflow for an Initial Prenatal visit involves documenting the patient encounter on the Intake, Gestational Age, Histories, and Education templates. The information documented by the intake staff is reviewed by the provider. When you access the Intake template, select Obstetrics and OB Prenatal Initial from the Specialty and Visit Type fields to display the Initial Prenatal template set. OB Intake tab The Intake template includes various links to add more information about the patient.
