Link Guidelines or Tests to Scanned Document Types

You can link a guideline or test to a scanned document type to satisfy a guideline. When you scan a patient’s document into the document type with a date of service, NextGen® Enterprise EHR recognizes the date as the completed date and automatically satisfies the guideline. NextGen® Enterprise EHR also recalculates and displays a due date of the guideline on the runtime Care Guidelines template. Open File Maintenance. In Document Management Master Files - System, complete the prerequisite configurations. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File , select System / Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. In the Manage Groups and Options panel, select the Enable Document Types to satisfy guidelines checkbox. Remove Document Types Linked to Guidelines or Tests

You can remove the link between a document type and a care guideline or test in the Document Types/Codifications section. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. In the Manage Groups and Options panel, select the Enable Document Types to satisfy guidelines checkbox. Expand theInterventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel and selectDocument Types/ Codifications section. Care Guidelines Setup In the Intervention/Test Name field, select a guideline or test. The document types linked to the guideline or test appear in the Document Type grid. Select a document type in the grid. The Remove button is turned on. Document_Types/Codifications Select Remove. The selected document type is removed from the grid. Document Types/Codifications

To satisfy a guideline, link the guideline or test to a scanned document type. To satisfy a guideline based on the tests that have not been ordered by the practice but performed elsewhere and the results are sent to the practice, you can use the Document Types/Codifications section in the Interventions/Test Equivalents/Descriptions panel on the Care Guidelines Setup template to link guidelines or tests to scanned document types. You can do the following: Link a guideline or test to one or multiple document types. Update or remove the linked document types. View all the document types that are linked to the selected guideline or test. Add a document type for each group of intervention equivalent tests. For example, if a breast MRI meets the criteria for a mammogram, in addition to the mammogram document type, you can also add a document type for breast MRI Note: NextGen Healthcare by default provides a linked colonoscopy document type for the colonoscopy guideline or test in the documen

Set Up Document Types

Document types provide a specific classification for documents and images. Since you must assign document fields to document types, you should create your document fields before you create the document types. For information on setting up document fields, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest User guide for NextGen Document Manangement and see Set Up Document Fields. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that each document type has one Person Number key field associated with it to serve as a unique identifier. Therefore, to associate a person number to each document type, in the Document Type Information window at File Maintenance, select the Potential Order Result check box and mark the Person Nbr field as Required. In File Maintenance > Master Files, select System or PM or Document Management, and then select Document Types. The Document Types List window opens. Set Up Document Types

Before you begin Set up the document fields. For more information, go to Set Up Document Fields. Setting Up Care Guidelines for Use

You can set up the care guidelines for a patient and document the details on the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines template is used to handle Health Maintenance and Disease Management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link, in the top navigation tabs of all the main tabbed templates for every specialty. CAUTION: Before using the Care Guidelines template in a clinical setting with patients, content on the template should be carefully reviewed by the individuals who are responsible for maintaining the system. You can update as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Care Guidelines link is always available on the Care Guidelines template.
