Modify Existing Guidelines

You can modify a guideline for a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template.

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. From File, select System \ Practice Template.
   The Select Template window opens.
3. On the Practice tab, select the All option.
4. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.
   The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens.
5. Expand the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel and select the guideline from the data grid.
   Details listed in the grid for the guideline fill in the fields. These values can be modified.

   Note: When you update a guideline, the current Guideline Condition/Reason does not change.
6. Modify the birth sex, start age, stop age, and diagnosis group as necessary.
   Note: You can select the Auto Update checkbox on the Care Guidelines Setup template to update the guidelines automatically with new guideline information and applied to eligible patients, including those patients that already have the guideline applied and active. The Auto Update feature eliminates the need to manually re-apply a guideline to patients when a change or update is made to a guideline and its configuration details. Guidelines and guideline items are not automatically removed from a patient who already has the guideline applied as a result of the Auto Update function.
7. Select Update.
   The guideline appears in the grid with updated information.
