Configure Medications in the Medication Configuration System Template

The Medication Configuration system template provides instructions configure and document dispensing or administering medications to patients at the practice. You can track and document dispensing while remaining within their current workflows. Only medications set up in the Medication Configuration system template can be dispensed or administered on the Order Management template, provided they have also been placed in the patient’s Medication module. When you dispense or administer a medication in the Order Management template, the new inventory count is updated on the Medication Configuration template. Open the Medication Configuration System Template

You can track and document dispensing while continuing their current workflows. The medications configured in the Medication Configuration template appear in the Order Management template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select the All option. A list of system templates appear in the System tab. Double-click Medication Configuration to access the Medication Configuration template. The Medication Configuration template opens. You can use the Medication Configuration system template to view the instructions for configuring and documenting dispensing or administering medications to patients at the practice. Add Additional SIG Configuration

The Additional SIG Configuration panel enables practices to add additional SIGs. An additional SIG category may be Other SIG instructions and can include: Take with food, Take at the same time everyday instructions. A medication needs to be associated with these additional Sig’s to use them in the Order Management template. Open the Medication Configuration template. Expand the Additional SIG Configuration panel. Modify Additional SIG Instruction Categories panel Select the Category field to select the configured category from the list. Select the Medication SIG field to select an option, or select the blank line in the list to enter the SIG text. The list displays all the available SIGs in your library. Select the Additional SIG field, and enter an additional SIG. The information gets printed on the medication label. Select the Link Med ID field to link a medication, and select an active medication option from the list. Select Add. The entered information appears in the grid. Modify A

Manage Additional SIG Instruction Categories Panel

The Modify Additional SIG instruction Categories panel enables practices to add additional SIG categories so that additional SIG can be pre-configured to these categories. Open the Medication Configuration template. Expand the Modify Additional SIG Instruction Categories panel. Modify Additional SIG Instruction Categories panel In the Category name field, enter a new category name. Select Add. The category name appears in the grid. To remove the category, select the category, and select Remove.
