Add Exams to the Physical Exam List

You must add physical exams to the all list before adding them to the top list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Click the Physical Exam panel. Click all. In the filter by gender field, click and select a gender. To select an item, click the field above the Physical Exam Item column. Click OK. The selected item appears in the field. Click Add. The added item appears in the Physical Exam list. To rearrange the items in the Physical Exam list in alphabetical order, select Sort Alphabetically. Configure Top Physical Exams

You can add a physical exam template that opens through several clicks, for example, the Somatic Dysfunction Findings template, to the top list for easy access. Before including a Physical Exam in the top list, the exam must first exist in the all list. Note: You can include up to 14 physical exam items in the top list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Click the Physical Exam panel. Set the Filter to top. Click the field above the Physical Exam Item column of the grid. The Udp Custom Link Filter window opens, with values that already exist in the all list specific to the selected specialty. Select an item from the list and click OK. To add an item to appear in the Physical Exam grid, click Add. Ensure that the Physical Exam Items that are included in the top 14 are available in runtime on the SOAP template in the Physical Exam panel. Configuration of Physical Exam Lists

You can configure the physical exam lists using the Physical Exam panel. You can find two filters on the Physical exam lists. All - All of the configured exams. Top - List of the top 14 exams that the practice uses most frequently and appear in the left pane in the Physical Exam panel. Exams that are included in the top 14 are available in runtime on the SOAP template in the Physical Exam panel. Physical Exam Using Additional option in the left pane, you can access the physical exams that are not listed in the top 14 list. Each physical exam listed in the Physical Exam panel is linked to a template. You can create and store the link on the Manage Custom Links practice template. Manage the Reason for Visit Submenu

You can update or delete the items in the Reason for Visit sub-menu. You must enter a sub-menu value before or after the Reason for Visit. In runtime, sub-menus enable you to make another selection to further refine your initial selection. A second selection, in some cases, even a third selection appears. This enables the practice to have a shorter list of reasons for visit. For example, instead of having two reasons that include initial or follow-up, you can add sub-menus initial and follow-up to a reason for visit to indicate whether the visit is initial or follow-up. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Click the Reason for Visit panel. Select the Filter to all. Highlight a complaint in the grid. In the Submenus section, click before and type items in the fields (for example, left, right, and/or bilateral). Document a Physical Exam

The Physical Exam panel includes a list of exam categories in the left pane. The categories in the left pane are customizable by specialty or by provider on the Framework Content system template. For more information on the Framework Content system template, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. When you click the Physical Exam History button, the Historical Information window opens. You can copy the previous physical exam records to the current encounter by using the Copy Physical Exam & Close button. Click the One Page Exam link from the left pane. The applicable exam template opens. Note: The resulting window is dependent on the specialty selected. Enter any pertinent exam details. Click Quick Save to save the documented findings as the default set for the next subsequent encounters. Click Save & Close. You can also document the other findings by selecting the applicable physical exam

Copy Physical Exam Findings from Previous Encounters

You can copy physical exam findings from previous encounters of a patient to the current encounter instead of manually adding them. OpenNextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open theSOAPtemplate, and then expand thePhysical Exampanel. Select Physical Exam History. The Historical Information window opens. Note: The records are displayed for the default duration configured in the Copy Previous Visit Information section of the Practice Configuration template. To filter the records in the grid, enter the search criteria inFilter by, and then selectSearch.
