Setting Up Care Guidelines for Use

You can set up the care guidelines for a patient and document the details on the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines template is used to handle Health Maintenance and Disease Management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link, in the top navigation tabs of all the main tabbed templates for every specialty. CAUTION: Before using the Care Guidelines template in a clinical setting with patients, content on the template should be carefully reviewed by the individuals who are responsible for maintaining the system. You can update as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Care Guidelines link is always available on the Care Guidelines template. Care Guidelines Introduction

You can control the functions for a paitient using the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines templates are used to handle health maintenance and disease management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. The Care Guidelines templates are available from all the specialty template sets. CAUTION: The Care Guidelines templates are used in a clinical setting with patients. Individuals responsible for maintaining the system need to carefully review the content available on the templates. You can update the content as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Open the Care Guidelines Template You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link. Clear and Restore Utility

You can clear the default content of a care guideline for any patient data. The clear and restore tools for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine include the care guidelines clear or restore report and utilities to restore default content and definitions that are packaged with care guidelines and to clear out any old care guidelines patient data. The clear and restore tools for care guidelines can be used with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine versions 8.3.x, 8.4.x, and later. CAUTION: The care guidelines clear or restore tool should only be run during off hours. The tool is designed to evaluate all patient records, and cause serious performance issues if you run it while continuing to use the application. Functions of the clear or restore tool is based on the number of patient records in the database. After you run this tool, you cannot recover any removed data. Care Guidelines Report

You can generate a care guidelines report for the patient's record. You can use the ngsprep_care_guidelines stored procedure to generate enterprise-level reports that display all patient records (in alphabetical order) that are due for the specified care guideline or test. For example Pap, lipid panel. The ngsprep_care_guidelines store procedure, when runs, temporarily updates care guidelines data prior to run the report. It ensures that the generated report shows records with updated care guideline data to view all patients that are due for the selected guideline. However, the patient's chart is not updated. CAUTION: Care guidelines in the patient’s chart only gets updated when you create an encounter and run the care guidelines store procedure, for example on the Intake template. To create a specific guideline report, you need to filter the data by accessing the options from the NextGen Report Filter: Patient template. You can configure a memorized report. Generate the Guideline Exceeding Limit Report

Your can generate the guideline exceeding limit report to determine the exceed length. The Guideline Exceeding Limit generates report to determine which guidelines have names that exceed 75 characters in length. Copy the Guidelines_exceeding_limit.rpt file into your local directory where NextGen® Enterprise EHR is installed. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > Reports > Crystal Reports. Home Page The Report Dialog window opens. Report Dialog Select the Report Setup button to open the Report Setup Dialog window. Report Setup Dialog Select the following on the Report Setup Dialog window: Report File: Guidelines_exceeding_limit.rpt Report Type: All encounters for All Patient Add the description using text: Description: Guideline exceeding limit Select Add. Correct Patient Records with Corrected Guidelines

Your can correct the patient records with corrected guidelines exceeding the limit to determine the exceed length of the description. After you have corrected the guidelines with name or description text exceeding 75 characters, patients for whom those guidelines applied should be updated so that the corrected guideline is applied. The Guidelines exceeding limits report, lists the patient record that needs correction in the Guideline items exceeding more than 75 characters section. You can correct patient records on the Active Care Guidelines template, which can be accessed using the Care Guidelines templates. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select the practice for which guideline data needs to be corrected.
