Diagnosis Groups and Code Lists

The fields in the relational gray box at the top of the panel populate in the Add Diagnosis Group grid upon Add/Update. On selection, if the Diagnosis Group field has a duplicate value in the grid, an alert displays.

You have to select a unique group name and save again. The Clear button removes the data from all of the fields above and removes the highlight from the grid row.

There are two view options for the grid:

  • View all diagnosis groups
  • View only diagnosis groups created or modified today.

You can also filter by Reference System or by selecting All, Active, or Inactive in the Show field.

The Add Diagnosis Group includes the following columns:

  • Diagnosis Group - required field
  • Description
  • Reference System - required field
  • Restrict Code - activated for groups that have a maximum of one ICD-9 and one ICD-10 code and are used to default a diagnosis code to an order
  • Active - if active, YES is displayed in the column; groups can be Inactive
  • Reference Website - optional field
  • Order Set Website - optional field
  • Developer - optional field
  • Funding Source - optional field
  • Reference Updated - automatically populates with the last build date

On selecting a reference system and diagnosis group from the grid, the Diagnosis Group name populates the Diagnosis Group field above the grid and a Copy button below the grid is enabled.

The Copy function allows you to create a copy of a group and modify the information included in the group. A similar but different group is created without having to start from scratch and search for codes again. You can modify and rename a group. Selecting Copy populates the highlighted grid row data to the top fields and Assigned Diagnosis Codes grid just as they are in the grid except that the Diagnosis group would appear as Copy of <name of Dx Diagnosis Group selected>.

The copy function is available for both active and inactive diagnosis groups. A copy of an inactive group becomes active on Add/Update. Users can select Activate or Inactivate a group by selecting the appropriate button.
