Enabling Order Entry from Order Module

If you have installed the Care Guidelines Standalone upgrade for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Practice Configuration template displays the Enable Order Module check box. Clients have the option for placing orders for lab and radiology guideline items directly from the Order module when they select the Enable Order Module setting in the Orders/Plans section of the Practice Configuration template. Selecting the Enable Order Module setting configures the Care Guidelines Paged View template to launch the Order module whenever the check box for a guideline orderable item is selected. Users can then place orders for the guideline item from the Order module. After saving, the Order module closes and users return to their workflow on the Care Guidelines Paged View template. The status of the guideline item is updated to “ordered” and the date ordered displays below the Status field. Configure Equivalent and Alternative Protocols for Care Guidelines

On the Care Guidelines Setup template, and expand the Test Equivalents and Alternatives panel. In Test Name, select the test from the picklist. Optional: To validate the billing code, select the Enable billing code validation checkbox. To add the exact equivalent of the selected test, enter a Test description equivalent and Test code equivalent. To add an alternative code for the selected test, enter a Test description alternative and Test code alternative. Optional: To indicate the test is orderable, select the Orderable checkbox. Select Add/Update. The details appear in the grids below the respective fields. Optional: To remove a test, select the test in the grid, and then select Remove. Select Save & Close. Alerts Panel

The grid in the Alerts panel displays all alerts that have been set up. The Description column describes the usage scenario that causes the alert to fire. The Message column shows the text of the alert message. The When column shows the template in the workflow where the alert fires. The Visit Set column shows which types of visits the alert will fire for. The Enabled column shows whether the alert has been enabled to fire ('Locked' indicates an alert that always fires and cannot be disabled). The Override column indicates whether an override has been configured for the alert. If there is an override (Yes), then when you select the alert, you see the conditions of the override in the grid in the Alerts Overrides panel. Most of the alerts are set to Enabled, and the system prevents you from disabling them due to regulatory or documentation requirements. If you select a row in the grid and the Enable checkbox becomes unavailable, you cannot turn off the alert. Search for an Alert Filter

Activate the Care Guideline You Want to Follow for the Patient

Open the Care Guidelines template. In the Care Guidelines panel, click Add/Update. The Activate Care Guidelines template opens. In the Active Guidelines panel, click the Condition field. A list of all pre-configured Care Guidelines appears. Select the pre-configured condition in the list and click OK. If applicable, click the Diagnosis field to select a diagnosis in the diagnosis search window. The Diagnosis field is used to associate a diagnosis with an ICD code (used for billing) to the guideline. The selected diagnosis populates in the Diagnosis field and the associated code appears in the Code field. Click Add. The guideline activates and items that are associated with it appear in the grid on the Active Guidelines panel. Select the Due within check box and then select the number of days, weeks, or months from the Show only items due within window to display only the items due within a specific time period. Enable Care Guidelines

Remove/Inactivate an Existing Orderable Guideline Item

You can remove an orderable test item of a patient on the Care Guideline Setup template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel, select the guideline or test item from the grid. Details for the guideline or test item appear in the fields above the grid. Select Remove. The guideline or test item no longer appears in the grid as active for the selected Reason type.
