Documenting Dental Patient Encounters

You can use the Home Page and Histories templates in NextGen Adaptive Content Engine to document the encounter details of a dental patient. The Dental User Guide forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine is intended for dental professionals, such as providers, nurses, and front office staff, responsible for documenting and processing patient information. You can document the dental office and virtual visit workflows on the Home Page and Histories templates. Before documenting a standard visit, you must configure settings to quickly access the templates. NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates enable you to document patient encounters on the visit types associated with the available specialties. You can also configure new links, navigation bar, reasons for visit, set up default templates, preferences, and so on. Basic Configuration Options

The system and practice templates contain many basic configuration options, such as setting up template preferences, adding links on templates, configuring task recipients, and customizing the reasons for visit. Set Up Template Preferences

You can configure the default and preferred templates to automatically open the templates for an encounter. You can also configure the workflow after opening an encounter from the Workflow Appointment list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Preferences window Select the Templates tab. To move a commonly used template in the preferred list, select the template in the Available Templates list and then select the right arrow. The selected template appears in the Preferred Templates list. To select all templates, select the double-right arrow. To set a default template, from the Default Template list, select a template. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends setting the Home Page (fts_home_page) template as a default template which provides a clinical summary of the patient to the provider. Managing Basic Configuration

Before you begin, you can configure some optional settings such as template preferences, template links, and so on. Optimizing basic settings can enhance work outcomes. NextGen Healthcare recommends that you configure the basic settings for ease of use NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Navigation Bar On the navigation bar, you can find customizable links to open additional templates that may not be part of the main workflow.
