Configure Ophthalmic Tests for the Order Module Using SIM Codes
Before you begin You must have a Service Item Maintenance (SIM) code to complete this task. For more information on creating or editing SIM codes, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the File Maintenance Libraries User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. You can send ophthalmic tests to the orders module using SIM codes. To use a Service Item Code for the *Billing/Test Code in the Oph diagnostic tests data set, you have to use a miscellaneous diagnostic test code for the NextGen Compendium Test Key. The following steps outline the process to configure SIM codes successfully. For more information about the orders module and the NextGen Compendium, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Configure Order Test Codes
In the File Maintenance application, Navigate to Master Files > System > EHR. Under EHR Master Files - System, click Order Tests. Click the Open Menu and select New. Create a new test for the following CPT codes under Reserved_1 in the System field: Colonoscopy, Surgical 45355 Sigmoidoscopy, diagnostic 45330 Click Close. To configure test codes for 45330 and 43235 to the order tests created above, click Order NextGen Test Compendium. Enter Exam Findings in Ophthalmology
You can enter exam findings using the options below. For an exam data field with a blue arrow , do one of the following: Click the field and type a value, and then press the Tab key to move to the next field. Click the blue arrow and select a value from a list or numeric keypad. Note: If a field is at the start or the middle of a set of serial entry fields to document an exam, selecting a value from a picklist moves the cursor to the next field and opens the corresponding picklist or numeric keypad. To enter data in a field that does not have a blue arrow, do one of the following: Click the field and select a value from the list. Click the field and select the top blank line from the list, and then type your entry. For text fields, like the Comments field, click the field and type your entry. Update an Existing Test in the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Data Set
Click the Data Set field and select Oph diagnostic tests from the DB picklist. The grid refreshes to display existing items in the Oph diagnostic tests data set. Highlight the row in the Data Sets grid to be updated, and click Update. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and details for the highlighted test appear in the edit fields above the grid. You can also select a test directly on the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template. To make changes to Test type: Click the field, and select from the Procedures search window. The selected procedure fills the Test type field and its code automatically fills the Billing/Test code field. To enter a test that is not found with the Procedures search window, click Cancel to close and type in a test description. You can send ophthalmic tests to the orders module using Compendium Codes.
