Configure Sensitive Encounters

You can configure a sensitive encounter for specific patient data elements using the Sensitive Information Configuration template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Practice Configuration, and then select OK.The Practice Configuration template opens. In the Sensitive Encounters section, select Configure Sensitive Encounter.The Sensitive Encounter Configuration template opens. configuring_sensitive_encounter In Location and Code System, select the value from the list. Enter the Description and Additional Information , if any, for the selected record, and then select Add.The record is added in the data grid. Optional: Select Import to import the sensitive codes from Data Share Module (DSM).The DSM Ind column in the data grid shows whether the code is imported, using Y for yes and N for no. Before you begin To flag encounters as sensitive, you must select the Enable Sensitive Encounter checkbox on the Practice Configuration template. To add data elements for the code system, you must configure the Sensitive Encounter Configuration template. For more information on how to configure data elements, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Practice Configuration Template User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient record, and then open a new encounter. Open the Intake template, and then select a specialty and visit type. From File > Superbill, select the Proc Srch tab. Enter a code and select Save. Open the Finalize template, and then add an assessment in the Today's Assessment panel. Before you begin You must configure a field as sensitive in a customized template using the Template Editor, and change the kbm.sensitive_ind field value to True. For more information on how to configure a field, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download theTemplates User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open the Templates module on a patient encounter, do one of the following: On the Categories or Encounter History tab, select Open Template. On Top Toolbar, select Templates. On the main menu, select File > New > Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Medical Records tab, in Show, select All. Select your customized template. For example, select Test Sens Enc and select OK.The Test Sens Enc template opens. Select the field you marked as sensitive, and enter the value. Sensitive Encounter

You can view the encounters flagged as sensitive based on the configured data for a patient. You can now manually flag an encounter as sensitive after identifying sensitive information. The application can also automatically flag encounters if specific data elements, such as ICD, CPT® , HCPCS, medications, LOINC® , and SNOMED® codes are noted in current encounter based on the restricted data lists. The updates to the Finalize template enable an automatic stored procedure to check for sensitive codes in encounters and flag when you select the Submit Code button. A configuration setting for sensitive encounters allows you to turn the auto-flagging functionality on or off, and provides flexibility at the location level, while defaulting to the practice level. The new functionality is initially disabled in practice configurations, you need to enable it for use. If an encounter is marked as sensitive, it is not changed to non-sensitive by the nightly job.
