Before you begin
To flag the encounters as sensitive, you must select the
Enable Sensitive Encounter checkbox on the
Practice Configuration template. To add the data elements for code system, you must configure the
Sensitive Encounter Configuration template. For more information on how to configure data elements, go to

- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Select a patient record, and then open a new encounter.
- In the left pane, select Medications.
The Medications Module template opens.
- Select Prescribe Now, enter the medication name in the search result, and select Search.
- Select the applicable medication, then select Select.
The medication appears in the data grid.
Note: You must map all the National Drug Code (NDC) ID to specific medication during the configuration.
- Enter the mandatory details, and then select Accept.
- Open the Intake template, and then select a specialty and visit type.
- Open the Finalize template, and then add an assessment in the Today's Assessment panel.
- In the Evaluation and Management Coding panel, select a complexity level, and then select Submit Code.
The sensitive encounter flag indicator appears in the encounters list.
Note: For the medication code system, the indicator is problem specific. It is carried forward to the following encounter if the problem status is active.
