Before you begin
To flag the encounters as sensitive, you must select the
Enable Sensitive Encounter checkbox on the
Practice Configuration template. To add the data elements for the code system, you must configure the
Sensitive Encounter Configuration template. For more information on how to configure data elements, go to

- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Select a patient record, and then open a new encounter.
- Open the Intake template, and then select a specialty and visit type.
- Open the Finalize template, in the Today's Assessment panel, select Add.
The Add or Update Assessment template opens.
- Select Diagnosis Code lookup, enter the code in the search result, and select Search.
- Select the applicable ICD code, and select Select.
- On the Add or Update Assessment template, select Add/Update, and then select Save & Close.
- In the Evaluation and Management Coding panel, select a complexity level, and then select Submit Code.
The sensitive encounter flag indicator appears in the encounters list.
Note: For the ICD code system, the indicator is encounter specific. It is not carried forward to the following encounter. Encounters marked as inactive or resolved are not considered as sensitive.
