Documenting Pediatric Patient Encounter

You can use the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Pediatrics specialty templates to document the encounter details for different visit types of a pediatric patient. The Pediatrics User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine mainly focuses on Office Visit, Virtual Visit, and Well child visit types. You can configure the Pediatric Age setting in the Practice Configuration template to display age-appropriate content throughout the Pediatric specialty template set. Configure the Pediatric Social History Display

You can enable the panel version of the social history template in the Social History section on the Practice Configuration template. NextGen®Adaptive Content Engine provides two display options for documenting the social history of a patient, when the Add/Edit button is selected in the Social panel: A distinct template for each area of social history. A single template that displays the social history content in multiple panels. By default, NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is packaged with the option of a distinct template for each area of social history. However, you can configure social history details to display as a single template on the Practice Configuration template. In the Social History section on the Practice Configuration template, if the Enable Panel version of Pediatric Social History checkbox is selected, then the application opens the Pediatric Social History template, which is the panel version of the social history template. Setting the Age and Development Screening Options

You can configure the Pediatric Age setting on the Practice Configuration template to display age-appropriate content throughout the Pediatric specialty template set. The Pediatric Age section enables you to do the following: Set the age limits of the pediatric patients in the Peds Navigation Age field. The patients older than the age mentioned in the Peds Navigation Age field are adult patients. For the patients equal to or lesser than the Peds Navigation Age, the application opens the templates specific to the pediatric patient in run time. Set the age in the Peds Physical Exam Age field to assign the PE normal for pediatrics using the template defaults. Document the child's development history. To enable the SWYC Milestone Full View template, you must select the SWYC Milestone Full View checkbox in the Pediatric Age section. Configuring Anticipatory Guidance Content

You can enable practices to configure detailed selections that are no longer available in the Bright Futures Fourth Edition. On the Peds Anticipatory Guidance Setup practice template, you can do the following: The Bright Futures Fourth Edition entries are read-only, but if your practice needs guidance selections that are more detailed than what is available in the 4th edition, you can add up to three customized fields to display in the sections under Anticipatory Guidance on the Peds Plan template. The fields added by the practice are indicated in the Peds Plan template with an arrow next to those items. This enables you to use the top three, most-used, practice items as a checkbox in the respective section. Anticipatory Guidance section You can set up practice-level, anticipatory guidance entries for the Other field in the Anticipatory Guidance section on the Peds Plan template. You can access all other practice selections from the Other list. You can change the caption of the My Plan

Enable Alert for a Height Value

If configured, and the current height entered is less than the previous visit height data, then an alert message appears at the top of the Pediatric [Age] Vital Signs template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Click the File menu, and select System \ Practice Template. On the Select Template window, click the Practice tab. In the Show section, click All to see a complete list of practice templates. Select Vital Signs Configuration, and click OK.The Vital Signs Configuration template opens.
