Make Gender Related Details Available in Documents

You can make gender related details available in the patient information header of the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine master and patient plan documents in the SOGI/Transgender section. You can control gender related details only in the master and patient plan documents from the Document configuration in the SOGI/Transgender section. To make the gender related details available on other customized documents, you must insert predefined macros in the documents. However, unlike master and patient plan documents, you cannot control details from appearing on customized documents. Enable Gender Neutral Review of Systems

The gender-neutral ROS option allows a provider to easily toggle between male and female tabs during review of systems, regardless of a patient’s birth sex. When the gender-neutral ROS option is turned on, providers can open the gender-neutral Reproductive ROS template and easily toggle between male and female tabs during the review of systems, regardless of a patient’s birth sex. On the Practice Configuration template, go to the SOGI/Transgender section. SOGI/Transgender section To turn on the gender-neutral ROS option for Reproductive ROS template, select the Enable Gender Neutral ROS option. Note: If a patient's gender is unknown (U) or undifferentiated (O), providers can open the gender-neutral Reproductive system template from the Review of Systems panel of the Intake and SOAP templates, irrespective of whether the gender neutral ROS option is turned on or not. Turn On the Detailed Sexual History Tab

You can turn on the Detailed Sexual History tab for your practice so that the providers can document the detailed sexual history of patients and their partners. From the File menu, select System\Practice Template.The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, double-click Practice Configuration.The Practice Configuration template opens. Scroll to the SOGI/Transgender section. SOGI/Transgender section From the third column, select the Enable Detailed Sexual History checkbox. Scroll and then select Save and Close. Gender Neutral Physical Examination

You can conduct a gender neutral physical examination using the available links. If the Enable Gender Neutral PE option is turned on, the One Page – Physical Exam template opens with the following additional links: Genitourinary – Opens the Genitourinary Female– Physical Exam template with tabs to open both Female and Male templates GYN Exam - Opens the GYN – PE template Rectal - Opens the Rectal - Physical Exam template When Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is selected the Prostate and Seminal Vesicle(s) fields will be displayed. When Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is unselected the Prostate and Seminal Vesicle(s) fields will be hidden for a female patient. You can configure gender neutral PE and ROS templates using the Detailed Sexual History tab. The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) and Transgender section allows you to configure the following: Gender neutral PE and ROS templates for your practice A Detailed Sexual History tab for documenting the confidential sexual history The gender identity information that you want to include on the Master document Set the Pronoun of a Patient You can set the pronoun of a patient in all the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template concatenations, documents, and macros with the Pronoun to be Used for Concatenation field under the SOGI/Transgender section. Document Physical Exam Findings

You can document the complete physical examination details of a patient on the SOAP template. The One Page Exam link opens a gender-specific or a gender-neutral, one-page physical exam template. Based on the configuration in the Physical Exam panel of the Framework Content system template and the selection of the Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox on the Practice Configuration template, the gender-specific or a gender-neutral, one-page physical exam template opens.
