Enable Gender Neutral Physical Examination

The gender-neutral PE option allows a provider to easily toggle between the male and female tabs during physical exams, regardless of a patient’s birth sex. When the gender-neutral PE option is turned on, the application can open the gender-neutral One Page – Physical Exam template for providers and allow them to easily toggle between the male and female tabs during the physical examination, regardless of a patient’s birth sex. If the Enable Gender Neutral PE option is turned on, the One Page – Physical Exam template opens with the following additional links: Genitourinary – Opens the Genitourinary Female– Physical Exam template with tabs to open both Female and Male templates GYN Exam - Opens the GYN – PE template Rectal - Opens the Rectal - Physical Exam template When Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is selected the Prostate and Seminal Vesicle(s) fields will be displayed. When Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is unselected the Prostate and Seminal Vesicle(s) fields will be hidden

Document Physical Exam in the OB Postpartum Template

You can document physical exam in the OB Postpartum template. Select the Postpartum tab. Select the Physical Exam panel. Do one of the following: Select the Postpartum Exam option from the left pane. Select the Additional link, and then select the Postpartum Exam option from the picklist. The Postpartum Exam template opens. Select the One Page Exam link.The GYN-PE template opens. Enter the applicable information in the General Exam section in the Postpartum Exam template. If you select the All others normal/negative checkbox, the Normal checkbox is selected for all the fields. Enter the applicable information in the Breast Exam section. Select the Breast Exam link. In Breast- Physical Exam, if you select the All others normal checkbox, the Normal checkbox is selected for all the fields. Select the Genitourinary link. Enter any applicable information in the Genitourinary Female - Physical Exam template. Select Save & Close. Enter the applicable information in the Genitourinary Exam sect

Document Physical Exam Findings

You can document the complete physical examination details of a patient on the SOAP template. The One Page Exam link opens a gender-specific or a gender-neutral, one-page physical exam template. Based on the configuration in the Physical Exam panel of the Framework Content system template and the selection of the Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox on the Practice Configuration template, the gender-specific or a gender-neutral, one-page physical exam template opens. Components of the Physical Exam Panel

The Physical Exam panel includes the following buttons and links: Button/Link Description One page Exam Opens the gender-specific One Page- Physical Exam template to document a complete exam on one template. Select Other Physical Exams Opens a list of single-system exams to document a single system in detail. Image Opens the GYN image list and displays an image of the selected option. Document a Multi System Exam on the SOAP Template

You can document the complete physical examination details of a patient on the SOAP template. The One Page Exam link in the left pane on the Physical Exam panel allows you to open the One Page - Physical Exam template. Note: Based on how the One Page Exam template is configured in the Physical Exam section on the Framework Content system template, and whether the Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is turned on in the SOGI/Transgender section on the Practice Configuration template, a gender-specific or a gender-neutral One Page - Physical Exam template opens. Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI)

You can configure gender neutral PE and ROS templates using the Detailed Sexual History tab. The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) and Transgender section allows you to configure the following: Gender neutral PE and ROS templates for your practice A Detailed Sexual History tab for documenting the confidential sexual history The gender identity information that you want to include on the Master document Set the Pronoun of a Patient You can set the pronoun of a patient in all the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template concatenations, documents, and macros with the Pronoun to be Used for Concatenation field under the SOGI/Transgender section.
