Components of the Physical Exam Panel

Button/Link	Description
One page Exam	Opens the gender-specific One Page- Physical Exam template to document a complete exam on one template.
Select Other Physical Exams	Opens a list of single-system exams to document a single system in detail.
Image	Opens the GYN image list and displays an image of the selected option. The provider can edit the image by adding text and color. Note: On the Physical Exam panel, the Image button appears only for female patients.

Document a Multi System Exam on the SOAP Template

You can document the complete physical examination details of a patient on the SOAP template. The One Page Exam link in the left pane on the Physical Exam panel allows you to open the One Page - Physical Exam template. Note: Based on how the One Page Exam template is configured in the Physical Exam section on the Framework Content system template, and whether the Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is turned on in the SOGI/Transgender section on the Practice Configuration template, a gender-specific or a gender-neutral One Page - Physical Exam template opens. Documenting or Annotating the Image

While completing the physical examination of a patient, you can annotate the exam details on the respective image of the system in the Physical Exam panel on the SOAP template. The Image button in the Physical Exam panel enables you to view a list of the available images, and when you select an image from the list, it displays the image. Document a Single System Exam on the SOAP Template

You can document the details of the single system examination of a patient in the Physical Exam panel on the SOAP template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the SOAP template. In the Physical Exam panel, select a single system exam in the left pane. Note: The left pane in Physical Exam displays the practice's custom list of the upper 14 single-system exams configured on the Framework Content system template. For more information on customizing the list, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Framework Content System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Select Additional in the list to select the required system from the complete list of systems that appears. The system-specific Physical Exam template opens. Enter the physical exam findings. Physical Exam Panel

The Physical Exam panel displays a list of exam categories in the left pane. These items are customizable by specialty or by provider. The One Page Exam link opens the Derm General - PE template where you can document the patient's physical exam. You can also access the system-specific physical exam templates by accessing the links in the left pane. If the required system is not available in the left pane, you click the Additional link and select a system from the picklist. Click the Office Diagnostic button below the Physical Exam grid to launch the Office Services template to place orders for the tests. When you click the Physical Exam History button, the Historical Information window opens. You can copy the previous physical exam records to the current encounter by using the Copy Physical Exam & Close button. Physical Exam Panel

The Physical Exam panel includes a list of systems in the left pane of the Physical Exam grid. When you click a system, a system specific template launches to document physical exam findings. Gender Neutral Physical Examination

You can conduct a gender neutral physical examination using the available links. If the Enable Gender Neutral PE option is turned on, the One Page – Physical Exam template opens with the following additional links: Genitourinary – Opens the Genitourinary Female– Physical Exam template with tabs to open both Female and Male templates GYN Exam - Opens the GYN – PE template Rectal - Opens the Rectal - Physical Exam template When Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is selected the Prostate and Seminal Vesicle(s) fields will be displayed. When Enable Gender Neutral PE checkbox is unselected the Prostate and Seminal Vesicle(s) fields will be hidden for a female patient.
