Document Patient Information Before a Visit
You can document patient information for an appointment before the actual visit.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- To open the Select Template window, select File > System \ Practice Template.
- Select the Practice tab, select All, and then select Pre Encounter Documentation from the list.
The Pre Encounter Documentation template opens.Note: Appointments from NextGen® Enterprise PM with the KEPT and BOOKED statuses appear in the Pre Encounter Documentation template.
- Optional: Filter the appointments in the grid by location and other options.
Note: To add information to completed appointments, you must open the respective patient chart and make the necessary changes.
- Optional: To view the records in the grid and prevent the Pre Encounter SOAP window from opening when you select a record, select Row Select Opens Chart.
- To open the Pre Encounter SOAP window, clear the Row Select Opens Chart checkbox, and then select the record to update from the grid.
- To document patient information in the Pre Encounter SOAP window, do any of the following:
- To copy information from a previous encounter to the current encounter, select Copy Dictation.
- To document saved phrases in the respective fields, select My Phrases.
- Manually enter your narratives in each field.
- Do one of the following:
If the appointment is checked in and an encounter is created, select Finalize and Send to Chart.
The documented data is sent to the patient encounter, and the record is removed from the Pre Encounter Documentation template.
If the appointment is not checked in and is in the BOOKED status, select Save & Close.
The working status of the record is changed to IN PROGRESS in the Pre Encounter Documentation template.
Note: The data is saved temporarily until the appointment is checked in, and the data is sent to the encounter. Temporarily saved data is deleted if it is not sent to an encounter within 14 days.
