Copy Assessments from Previous Encounters

You can copy assessments from previous encounters of a patient to the current encounter instead of manually adding them.

1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
2. Open the SOAP template, and then expand the Assessment/Plan panel.
3. Select Dx/AP History.
   The Assessment, Diagnosis Copy Forward window opens.

   Note: By default, the All Assessments option is selected and records are displayed for the default duration configured in the Copy Previous Visit Information section of the Practice Configuration template.
4. To copy assessments from a specific encounter, select Encounter Assessments.
5. To filter the records in the grid, enter the search criteria in Filter by, and then select Search.
   Note: If the records are displayed from any sensitive encounter, an asterisk (*) appears on the record in the Sensitive column to help you decide whether to copy such records and update the current encounter as sensitive.
6. To select an assessment, do one of the following:
   • From the All Assessments grid, select the record, and then select Add To Grid.
   • From the Encounter Assessments grid, select the appropriate encounter and the assessment to copy, and then select Add To Grid.
   Note: If you want to change the status of an assessment, select the appropriate status before selecting Add To Grid. In the Assessment section of the Practice Configuration template, if you select Require Assessment Status, Status becomes mandatory.
7. Optional: To select all assessments from an encounter in the Encounter Assessments grid, select the appropriate encounter, and then select Copy All Dx/AP.
   Note: If an assessment from the selected encounter already exists in the current encounter, a confirmation message appears. To copy only the assessments that are not already available, select Yes.
8. Review and update the assessments added to the Select Assessments to Copy grid.
   Note: If you have added assessments from sensitive encounters, a confirmation message appears. You can update today's encounter as sensitive if needed.

   

9. Select Copy Assessments Plan & Close.
