Allergy Evaluation Workflow

Patient allergy evaluation workflow for the intake staff, providers, and front office staffs. Typically, the patient allergy evaluation workflow involves the following steps: The intake staff uses the Intake and Histories templates to begin the visit for the patient. If needed, the intake staff can review the patient's details documented in previous encounters on the Home Page template. Using the Intake and Histories templates, a nurse or medical assistant can document the reasons for visit, medication, allergies, social history, and so on. The provider can review the patient history documented in previous encounters on the Home Page template or in the intake note document the intake staff generates. The provider then documents the patient exam on the SOAP template. The provider completes the visit and calculates the Evaluation and Management (E&M) code on the Finalize template. Allergy Testing Workflow

You can test and document a patient's asthma related issues on the Testing - Allergy template. You can perform and document the results of allergy testing for the Testing Only visit type. You can use the Testing - Allergy template for the following tests: Prick test ID test Challenge test Allergen Specific IgE test Begin a Testing Only Visit You can use the Testing Only visit type for patients allergy testing only. Placing Allergy Orders and Documenting Test You can document the test result in the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel on the Testing - Allergy template. Challenge Tests Panel You can use the Challenge Tests panel to enter the administration and other test data for previously ordered challenge tests. Provider Workflow for Allergy Testing You can review the patient's medical summary details on the Home Page template and then proceed to the SOAP and Finalize templates. Open the Allergy Home Page

You can use the Templates module to open the Home Page - Allergy template. Before you begin When you open the Home Page - Allergy template, ensure to select the specialty and visit type to open the framework template set for Allergy and Immunology. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open the Templates module on a patient encounter, do one of the following: On the Categories or Encounter History tab, select Open Template. On Top Toolbar, select Templates. On the main menu, select File > New > Template. The Select Template window opens. Select the Medical Records tab. In the Show section, select the All option. Review of Summary of Allergies by Providers

A provider can start the visit by reviewing the patient's information documented during the previous patient encounters, on the Home Page template for the Allergy and Immunology specialty. The information documented by the nursing staff on the Intake template is displayed on the Home Page template for the provider's review. You can update the information on the Intake and SOAP templates.
