You can release a patient's required information to maintain a streamlined, secure, and compliant process for such sensitive data.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and then in Patient History, select Open Templates.
The Select Template window opens.
- On the Medical Records tab, select All.
- Open Release of Information template.
- Select a program.
- Review the information grid in the Release of Information History grid in the Release Information panel.
- To revoke an expired item, highlight a row whose Exp Date column is empty and select Revoke.
The current row expiry date is set to the encounter date. A new row is created with the type as Revoke and both effective and expiry dates are set to the encounter date.
- Select a type of release authorization from Disclose, Obtain, Reciprocal, or Revoke.
- Select the duration of the authorization release.
- Select the reason for disclosure.
Note: The Reason for Disclosure values appear from the Expanded DBPicklist panel in the BH Foundation Configuration template. You can also add data manually.
- Select Add to add a support contact for the patient.
- Select the contact from the Release Authorized by grid.
- In the Documents panel, select the documents and the authorized information.
- Select if the patient has received any privacy notice.
- Select whether the patient wants to receive a list of contact to whom the information is disclosed to.
- Optional: Select the PHI Log to update the patient's release of information records.
- Optional: Select Generate Document.
