Additional BH Configuration
You can use the BH - Configuration practice template to set up the following options in NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite: ASAM Enables the ASAM template for your practice. Allow patient procedure activity against locked encounters Enables billing activity to occur without having to unlock encounters. Enable CCBHC requirements Displays additional fields for CCBHC content for practices required to adhere to reporting standards. Open the BH Foundation Configuration Template
Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens with the system-related templates. Select All. The list of all the system templates opens. Submit Charges
Before you begin Service codes, units, and duration are configured on the Service Code Mapping panel in the BH Foundation Configuration template. If any of these fields are blank, the selected code may not be configured correctly. Your practice administrator must review the configuration. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Configuration Guide for NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and then in Patient History, select Open Templates. The Select Template window opens. On the Medical Records tab, select All. Open the billing template, expand the Charges panel, and then enter the start and end times. Note: If the end time is earlier than the start time, or the duration is more than 12 hours, a message appears to correct the entries. In Service Code, select a procedure service code. Open the Practice Configuration Template
Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System\Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Click the Practice tab. In the Show section, click All . A list of practice level templates appears. Select Practice Configuration, and then click OK. The Practice Configuration template opens. Lock an Encounter
Before you begin Ensure that the Rights > Operations > Encounters > Lock Patient Encounter in System Administrator is set to True and the necessary access rights are enabled. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. To prevent changes or additions to a patient encounter, you can lock the encounter. You can create an addendum to add documents or images to a locked encounter. Note: If you do not lock the encounter manually, the encounter gets automatically locked within 72 hours, by default. You can change the default locking period by accessing File Maintenance > Enterprise Preferences General > Lock Interval tab, or Practice Master file > Practice Defaults tab. Bill All Charges on a Case to One Encounter
All charges throughout the course of a case can be associated with a particular encounter. Each charge does not have to be submitted on a separate encounter if the original encounter is in locked status. A practice can consolidate all procedures on one encounter for billing. Other encounters used to document care over the course of treatment can be marked as clinical only to support clinical documentation. They do not appear in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes can be added, modified, or deleted against a locked encounter in this manner: In File Maintenance, select the following Practice Preferences on the Encounters tab: Enable In Progress Billing status Allow Execution of EHR procedure trigger against locked encounter Note: You must select the Enable In Progress Billing status check box first to enable selection of the Allow Execution of EHR procedure trigger against locked encounter check box.
