Mirth® Connect Administrator Overview

The Mirth® Connect Administrator is used to develop and manage all channels and can be run anywhere in relation to the Mirth® Connect server. The Mirth® Connect Administrator consists of menus and view panels that change depending on the task (for example, Dashboard, Channel, Edit Channel, Settings). Note: You no longer need to use Java Web Start. NextGen Healthcare has released a new Administrator Launcher that you can use instead. See Administrator Launcher Overview. Download the Administrator Launcher You must download the Administrator Launcher to use it to open the Administrator. Launch the Administrator After you download the Administrator Launcher, you can log on to the Mirth® Connect Administrator. Log On Use the Mirth® Connect Login window to authenticate yourself and log on to the Administrator. Server Tab

The Server tab enables you to enter details about your ports, server memory, log levels, and view log files. The following fields are available on the Server page. Function Description Web Start Port Accesses the launch page for the Mirth® Connect Administrator. Default: 8080 Administrator Port This port is used by the Mirth Connect Administrator to communicate with the Mirth® Connect Server. Default: 8443 Server Memory (mb) The server's maximum available memory (Java max heap size). By default this is 256 MB, but for large production instances you will typically want to increase this value. Main Log Level Database Log Level Channel Log Level These fields enables you to select the applicable log level from the drop-down menus. Available options include: ERROR WARN INFO DEBUG TRACE Depending on the log level, messages of the selected level or lower will pass into that level's log when the system logs a certain-level message. Other Tasks

The following tasks are available at any time at the bottom-left of the task pane throughout the Mirth® Connect Administrator. Task Icon Task Name Description Notifications View all notifications received from Mirth® Connect headquarters. This enables you to be notified when there is a new version of Mirth® Connect available, or for other news. The number shown in this task indicates how many unread or unarchived notifications you currently have. For additional information, see Notifications. View User API Opens the User API (Javadoc) documentation in your default browser. View Client API Open the Mirth Connect REST API documentation in your default browser. Help Opens the Mirth® Connect Wiki page in your default browser. About Mirth® Connect Opens the About window for Mirth Connect, which displays the current version, build date, server ID, version of Java being used, copyright information, and third-party acknowledgements. Install a New Extension

Extensions are packaged into ZIP files. To install an extension in Mirth® Connect: Navigate to the Install Extension from File System section at the bottom of the Extensions view. Select the Browse... button, then select the ZIP file of the extension you would like to install. Select the Install button. If the extension ZIP file is valid, you will see a notification asking you to restart the server: Restart the Mirth® Connect server and launch the Mirth® Connect Administrator again. You will see the new extension listed in either the Installed Connectors Table or Installed Plugins Table, depending on the type of extension you installed. Parent topic: Extensions View

Backup Current Server Configuration

Before you begin A Server Configuration file is a snapshot of your current server settings, including all channels, alerts, scripts, and other properties. This configuration may be backed up from one Mirth® Connect server and restored into a different server. Note: If you have just installed Mirth® Connect and you do not yet have any channels or other configurations, you can skip this section. Use the following steps to backup your server configuration Log into the Mirth Connect Administrator (see Mirth Connect Administrator Overview) . In the Mirth Connect pane, select Settings. Select the Server tab. In the Server Tasks pane, select Backup Config. Enter a location to save the server configuration XML file, then select Save. Review the Information message, then select OK. Warning: The Server Configuration file does not include Users, Events, or Message / Attachment data. To export events, see Searching Events. Administrator Layout

The Mirth® Connect Administrator includes main view selections and context-specific tasks located on the left side of the window.
