Viewing Account Summary Information

You can view information associated with a patient's financial responsibilities on the Account Summary tab under the Account Profile window. The Account Summary section displays all the transactions, and the Summary Information section displays the totals for each encounter. You can filter the list of encounters in the Account Summary section using the same Filter Options window as the patient chart. You can use one or more of the following filter options: Rendering Physician Encounter Location Encounter Primary Payerr Tracking Description Encounter Statuss Date range Self-Balance Note: Two additional filter options Tracking Description and Show Account Unapplied Payments Only, are available for filtering the account summary Filter Options window. Set up Statement and Collection Information for Accounts

The demographics information appears by default when you open the Properties tab under the Account Profile window for an employer account. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Tasks menu, select Lookup > Accounts. The Account Lookup window opens. To search for a person account, enter the search criteria data, and then select Find. You can use different combinations of the search criteria to search for a person's account. Accounts that match the search criteria appear in the Account List section. Double-click a person account. The account profile for the account appears. The Properties tab becomes available and displays the current demographic information for the account. The Account Demographics section is automatically filled with information derived from the Employer master file. Person Accounts Overview

A person account is automatically created when the person is selected as the guarantor on a patient’s encounter for the first time, which results in statements generated for the person’s account that include encounters with outstanding self-pay balances. NextGen® Enterprise PM assigns each account a unique account number on the person's Account Profile window. The account number is also printed on statements sent to the guarantor. Adding Information to Person or Patient Profiles

You can enter the following data on the Demographics tab of the Add Person Information or Add Patient Information window, General Information that includes name, sexual profile, social security number, and birth date. Significant events are generated when a patient changes their gender identity, sexual orientation, or preferred pronoun. Contact Information that includes phone numbers, email address, and preferred contact methods. Demographic Information that includes marital status, student status, preferred language, religious information, and dental and primary provider. You can also enroll the patient in the Enterprise Chart feature. Insurance Information that includes insurers, authorizations, referrals, and eligibility inquiries. The optional and mandatory fields that appear on the Add Person Information or Add Patient Information window can be configured by the system administrator in the enterprise and practice preferences in File Maintenance. Family Information

In the Family Information section of the UDS tab, you can enter family size and annual income for the patient's head of household. This information is typically used by Community Health Centers in conjunction with sliding fee schedules. When a patient qualifies for a sliding fee schedule, family size and income are used to determine the percentage of charges that are automatically adjusted for the patient. Family information is also reported on the UDS Report. Note: A head of household must be selected for a patient to enter family information. Family Information is stored at the practice level; therefore, each practice can enter and maintain different information for a person or patient. Managing Demographic Information

On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. Information on the Demographics tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient.
