Use the Chart Wizard

The Chart Wizard is the same as using the Chart Designer with the major difference being that the Wizard leads you through the process. Right-click anywhere on the chart and select Chart Wizard. The Gallery window opens. A gallery of chart examples appears. You can select from two dimensional (2D) or three dimensional (3D). Select one of the images from the Gallery and then select Next. The Style window opens with samples of styles to choose. Select the style you like for your chart and then select Next. The Layout window opens. In the Layout window you can specify the following: In the Chart Title field, enter the title for your chart. In the Chart Footnote field, you can enter a chart footnote, if needed. In the Chart Legend field, from the drop-down list, you can select one of the following options: None Left Right Top Bottom In the Series Data along field, you can select either Rows or Cols (columns). Edit Chart Data

You can edit any of the chart date using this selection on the shortcut menu. Right-click anywhere in the chart area and select Edit Chart Data. The Edit Chart Data window opens. You can edit any of the data that appears in the Edit Chart Data window. Select any of the cells in the Edit Chart Data window and enter over the word or numbers on the cell and select Apply. Selecting Apply enables you to see the how your edits affect the chart before you commit to them. To save the edits, select OK. Parent topic: Formatting a Report Graph

Formatting a Report Graph

After you convert your report data into a graph, you can format the graph using the shortcut menu. Note: Each time you generate a report, the toolbar appears. That does not mean that you can create a graph for every report. Some reports are not compatible for graphing. The selections available on the Graph Formatting shortcut menu are: Menu Choice Description Chart Designer Using the Chart Designer, you can format everything from the source of chart (pie, bar, etc.) to the labels and pictures you want included. Edit Chart Data Selecting Editing Chart Data displays the Edit Chart Data window so that you can edit the number totals that are affecting your graph. Designing the Backdrop for Charts

Using the Backdrop tab, you can create the backdrop, or background, look for your chart. The Components section on the left of the window displays regardless of whichever tab you select. You can select the type of graph you want to use as well as the labels, legend, etc. The Type tab has several sections you can work with: Section Description Fill The Fill section enables you to select which colors and/or effects to apply to the different components of your graph. You can select from: No Fill Gradient Horizontal Vertical Rectangle Oval Brush None Various Samples Fill/From Color: If you select Gradient, this is the color that the gradation starts. Pattern/To Color: If you select Gradient, this the color that the To color gradually becomes. Frame: This is a frame for the entire chart. Adding Pictures to Charts

If you would like to add a picture as a backdrop to your report, you can do so through the Picture tab. You do not have to use a picture, it could be your practice logo, if you prefer. If you select to do this, the takes precedence over any selections made on the Backdrop tab. The following selections are available on the Picture tab: Selection Description Picture Size There are five (5) options: Actual size: The picture displays in the center of the chart area in its actual size. Best fit: Chart Designer fits the entire picture into the backdrop with as little distortion as possible. This does not mean that it covers the entire backdrop. Therefore, any selections made on the Backdrop tab display around the picture. Stretch to fit: The picture is stretched to cover the entire backdrop of the chart. This is the possibility of distortion with this selection. Tiled: If you select this option, the picture is tiled, in squares, to fill the entire backdrop if the chart. This, depending on yo

Selecting a Chart Type

To specify the chart type, access Chart Configuration window. You can select the type of graph you want to use as well as the labels, legend, etc. The Chart Type field has several sections you can work with: Section Description Chart Number This field displays the chart number. Orientation This section on the left side of the window is always visible. You can select any item in this section and format it using the formatting selections on the tab. The list of components that you can format are: Z Axis X Axis Y Axis Zoom Level Chart Type You can select to format your chart as 2D (two dimensional) or 3D (three dimensional). You can also select under those choices how you want the graph to present the data.
