Formatting a Report Graph

Menu Choice	Description
Chart Designer	Using the Chart Designer, you can format everything from the source of chart (pie, bar, etc.) to the labels and pictures you want included. For more information on Chart Designer, see Using Chart Designer.
Edit Chart Data	Selecting Editing Chart Data displays the Edit Chart Data window so that you can edit the number totals that are affecting your graph. For more information on Edit Chart Data, see Editing Chart Data
Wizard	If you are not sure how to set up the graph, try using the Chart Wizard. The Chart Wizard leads you through, with examples, how to format the graph exactly as you like. For more information on Wizard, see Using the Chart Wizard
Open	You can open a previously saved chart file to use by selecting Open.
Save As	To save this chart file, select Save As.
Print	To print the chart data in the graph format, select Print.
Copy	You can select the chart image, right-click and select Copy.
Paste	To paste an image into this graph chart, select Paste.

Using Chart Designer

After the report is in a graph, you can format the graph using the Chart Designer. To format a graph, right-click on the graph and select Chart Designer from the menu to access the Chart Configuration window. Use the Chart Wizard

The Chart Wizard is the same as using the Chart Designer with the major difference being that the Wizard leads you through the process. Right-click anywhere on the chart and select Chart Wizard. The Gallery window opens. A gallery of chart examples appears. You can select from two dimensional (2D) or three dimensional (3D). Select one of the images from the Gallery and then select Next. The Style window opens with samples of styles to choose. Select the style you like for your chart and then select Next. The Layout window opens. In the Layout window you can specify the following: In the Chart Title field, enter the title for your chart. In the Chart Footnote field, you can enter a chart footnote, if needed. In the Chart Legend field, from the drop-down list, you can select one of the following options: None Left Right Top Bottom In the Series Data along field, you can select either Rows or Cols (columns). Edit Chart Data

You can edit any of the chart date using this selection on the shortcut menu. Right-click anywhere in the chart area and select Edit Chart Data. The Edit Chart Data window opens. You can edit any of the data that appears in the Edit Chart Data window. Select any of the cells in the Edit Chart Data window and enter over the word or numbers on the cell and select Apply. Graph a Report

After generating a report, you can graph the report to see the report data in a graphical format. Select the Graph Report button on the Report toolbar. The report graph window opens. In the Select row for the graph field, from the drop-down list, select one of the rows from your report to use as your X axis. In the Select column for the graph field, from the drop-down list, select one of the columns from your report to use as your Y axis. Select Graph. A graph of the report appears. At this point, you can do one of the following:you can select from the two toolbar buttons that display on the graph window: Print or Exit. You can select Print or Exit. Adding Pictures to Charts

If you would like to add a picture as a backdrop to your report, you can do so through the Picture tab. You do not have to use a picture, it could be your practice logo, if you prefer. If you select to do this, the takes precedence over any selections made on the Backdrop tab. The following selections are available on the Picture tab: Selection Description Picture Size There are five (5) options: Actual size: The picture displays in the center of the chart area in its actual size. Best fit: Chart Designer fits the entire picture into the backdrop with as little distortion as possible. This does not mean that it covers the entire backdrop. Therefore, any selections made on the Backdrop tab display around the picture. Stretch to fit: The picture is stretched to cover the entire backdrop of the chart. Selecting a Chart Type

To specify the chart type, access Chart Configuration window. You can select the type of graph you want to use as well as the labels, legend, etc. The Chart Type field has several sections you can work with: Section Description Chart Number This field displays the chart number. Orientation This section on the left side of the window is always visible. You can select any item in this section and format it using the formatting selections on the tab. The list of components that you can format are: Z Axis X Axis Y Axis Zoom Level Chart Type You can select to format your chart as 2D (two dimensional) or 3D (three dimensional). You can also select under those choices how you want the graph to present the data.
