Charge Posting Additional Fields

When enabled, additional fields appear on the Charge Posting window. One or more of these fields may be needed for specific types of billing. The following additional fields are available. Field Description Settings Tooth Selects a tooth for a dental charge. Practice Preferences > Charge Entry > Display tooth, surface, quadrant. Surface Selects one or more tooth surfaces for a dental charge. Practice Preferences > Charge Entry > Display tooth, surface, quadrant. Quadrant Selects an area of the mouth for a dental charge. Practice Preferences > Charge Entry > Display tooth, surface, quadrant. Batch You can enter a free-text batch description for each charge. Practice Preferences > Charge Entry > Display batch information. Additional Provider Selects an additional provider for a charge, such as a nurse. Practice Preferences > Charge Entry > Addtl prov. Access the Charge Posting Window

You can open the Charge Posting window by selecting Charges on the NextGen® Enterprise PM toolbar. You can also access the Charge Posting window from the following areas in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Appointment Book Appointment Lookup Encounter Lookup Patient Chart Account Profile To open the Charge Posting window from Appointment Book, do the following: From the Appointment Book, locate the desired appointment. Note: The appointment must be kept with a linked encounter. Right-click the appointment and select Charges from the menu. The Charge Posting window opens displaying the patient name and the selected appointment details. To open the Charge Posting window from the Appointment Lookup window, do the following: From the NextGen® Enterprise PM toolbar, select the ApptList button. The Appointment Lookup window opens. Navigating the Charge Posting Window

In the Charge Posting window, you can do the following: Press the Tab key to move forward to the next field. Press the Shift and Tab keys to move back to the previous field. Press the hot-key commands to move to a specific field or button. Press the Alt key and a letter to move to a specific field or button. For example, pressing Alt and P moves to the Patient field. Open the Patient Information Bar in Charge Posting

Before you begin Practice and user preferences must be set in charge posting to enable the Patient Information Bar. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the main toolbar, select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens displaying the Patient Information Bar. The Patient Information Bar does not display any information until a patient is selected. Charge Posting Window for Patient Information Bar Search for and select the patient and encounter to record charges. The information for the selected patient displays in the Patient Information Bar. Note: If you access the Charge Posting window from the Appointment Book or Encounters tab of the chart, the patient data automatically appears in the Patient Information Bar.
