Enterprise Case Encounters

Enterprise Case functionality enables you to view encounters from other practices that are associated with a specific case. You can only attach encounters from your practice to the selected case. Select the Other Practices radio button to view Encounters attached to the Case that were not created in your Practice. Parent topic: Enterprise Case

Enterprise Case Versus Practice Case

The following table illustrates the differences between Enterprise Case and regular Case Management functionality: Action Case Management Enterprise Case A new Case is created in Practice A. The Case is named Back Injury. The Back Injury Case is available only in Practice A. Other Practices cannot view the Back Injury Case. The Back Injury Case is available in Practice A, as well as all other Practices within the Enterprise. Practice B modifies information for the Back Injury Case. Practice B cannot view the Back Injury Case and therefore cannot modify the information for the Case. Practice B has to create a new Case and fill out all necessary information. The changes made by Practice B apply to all Practices within the Enterprise. Practice A (as well as any other Practice) is able to view the changes. Practice A enters data on a Case Template. Enterprise Case

When you set the Enterprise case management option in Enterprise Preferences, each patient case becomes available to all practices within the same enterprise. Users in any practice in the enterprise can view and modify the case information and attach encounters from the current practice, regardless of the practice in which the case originates. All cases are automatically assigned a unique enterprise-wide sequential Case Number. Note: You are able to attach only encounters within the practice you are currently logged on to. The option also affects: The way cases are automatically numbered. The application automatically assigns a unique case number to each new case created within a practice. Encounters in Enterprise Chart

If a patient is enrolled in Enterprise Chart, the Encounter History tab displays the patient's encounters from all practices instead of just from the current practice. Enterprise chart encounters have the following characteristics: Encounters that occurred in a different practice are automatically locked. You cannot unlock these encounters. Displaying the Encounter History for Cases in NextGen® Enterprise EHR

Once you enable the Case View, the Encounter History tab displays all of the available cases related to the selected patient. All of the Encounters containing all of the pertinent information attached to a particular Case are displayed under the Case. If there are any Encounters in the patient's history that are not attached to a Case, such Encounters are displayed separately at the bottom of the Encounter History tab. All of the usual Encounter-related functionality available in the Encounter History tab is retained. If a Case is selected, however, only the Template icon is enabled, allowing you to select and work with Case Templates. Parent topic: Managing Patient Cases

Encounter Type Icons

Icons within the Encounter History tab provide a quick visual reference to determine the status and type of contents within an encounter or a case. Icon Name Description Appointment Indicates that the encounter for the patient is linked to an appointment. External Practice Indicates that the encounter was created at another practice within the Enterprise. Group Indicates a group encounter. Case Indicates a case. Addendum Indicates that there are images and/or documents added to a locked encounter. Chart Update Indicates an encounter used to add documentation or update a record within a patient chart that was not part of a billable service. For example, documentation of a telephone call or prescription refill. Sensitive Encounter Indicates a sensitive encounter.
