The File menu contains printer settings, print forms, processes and tools related to the handling of reports and various menu options.

Desktop Status Bar
You can view the current status of the application as well as information about the system on the Status Bar on the main desktop in NextGen® Enterprise PM. PM Desktop The following information appears on the Status Bar. Status Bar Items Details Status Displays the current status of the application. For example, Ready, or Loading form, please wait. Message Displays text from the Status Bar Information field in Practice Preferences. Icons Displays one or more icons, when applicable. Database Displays the name of the current database. For example, NGProd. User Displays your username and user ID. Version Displays the current version of the application. Date/Time Displays the system's current date and time. Desktop Settings
In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can resize windows and reposition them on your screen. For example, you can make the Add Appointment window larger or smaller and move it to the right or left side of the screen. You can also customize the order and width of columns on some windows. For example, on the Appointment Lookup window, you can add or remove columns in the Appointment List section and change the order and width of the columns. The changes you make in NextGen® Enterprise PM are saved to your desktop settings, and your customizations appear whenever you open a window. A Reset Desktop Settings option is available to undo your customizations and reset all windows to their original default settings. Keyboard Shortcuts
The following keyboard shortcuts can be used in NextGen® Enterprise PM to perform common actions. Keyboard Shortcut Action Alt+F4 Closes NextGen® Enterprise PM. Ctrl+F4 Closes the active window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Alt+Underlined Letter Selects an option. Example: Alt+N selects Next Alt+Down Arrow Opens a menu of picklist items. Up/Down Arrows Highlights a picklist item. Ctrl+Shift+End Highlights all picklist items. Space Bar Selects or clears a highlighted picklist item. Shift+End+Space Bar Selects all pickist items. Alt+Tab Toggles between open applications. Ctrl+Tab Toggles between open windows in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Tab Moves to the next field. Shift+Tab Moves to the previous field. Patient Information Bar
You can quickly view a patient’s general, demographic, and encounter-based information through the Patient Information Bar as you work in the patient chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The information includes patient alerts, appointments, insurance, balances, NextGen® PxP Portal status, and recall plans. Viewing the Patient Information Bar You can configure the Patient Information Bar to appear or be hidden in the Patient Chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM and customize the patient information that appear on the patient information bar. Managing the Patient Information Bar You can maximize, minimize, or close the Patient Information Bar. Viewing the Desktop Layout
NextGen® Enterprise PM opens to the main desktop window, when you log on using your credentials. You can access various areas and functions of NextGen® Enterprise PM from the main desktop window. Reports Menu
The Reports menu includes preconfigured reports, ranging from daily appointments to monthly transactions, that provide information on specific areas of your practice. You can generate many types of reports such as claims, alerts schedules, tasks and more. System-generated reports use default settings to filter the data to determine which information to include in the report and how to display the information. When you open a report from the Reports menu, the Report Filter window opens, where you can select options and parameters to filter the data. Based on the options you select, NextGen® Enterprise PM quickly runs the requested information and displays reports in the order and format you choose.
