Tasks Menu

The Tasks menu enables you to access commonly used features and different applications from one location. The Tasks menu options also enable you to demand bills, letters, and statements, change your password, change the practice, and set your session settings.

AdvisorProvides a snap shot of your practice's financial and operational performance. Displays current tasks and emails that you can access without leaving the system. You can customize the Advisor to display only the elements that you want the logged in user to see.
Appt BookOpens the Appointment Book window. You can organize a resource's appointments across several locations for small and large practices. You can schedule appointments by time-intervals of your choice. The appointment book's customized color coding enables you to easily differentiate between appointment types (categories) and locations at a glance. You can view appointment schedules in several ways.
Appt SearchEnables you to search for an appointment.
BBPOpens NextGen® Background Business Processor.
Charge Posting
  • Main Toolbar: Enables you to move to different areas in NextGen® Enterprise PM that relate to the active encounter.
  • Encounter Information/Charge Entry contains the following:
    • Encounter you are adding charges to
    • Charge information for the individual line item
    • Diagnosis for the service provided
    • Additional details about the charge, such as: Place of Service, Notes/Batch information, and the Rendering and Referring Providers
  • Charge Toolbar: Enables you to add, modify, and remove charges on the Charge Posting window.
  • Charge Ledger: After you add and save a charge, the charge appears in the charge ledger section. The following information is listed for each line item.
    • Date
    • Service Item
    • Charge
    • Payment
    • Adjustment
    • Patient Amount
    • Line Item Balance

You can customize the view for charges in the ledger. You can use the right-click options to view the Top Line Only, or the line with All Details.

Create EncounterCreates an encounter to enter charges for a patient for the provided services. When a patient arrives for an appointment, NextGen® Enterprise PM provides a Checkin/Create Encounter process.
Create Group EncounterOpens the Add Group Encounter window to create a group encounter for a group appointment.
Create TaskEnables you to create and assign tasks to selected users. Users can then access the task from the Worklog Manager window in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
Create EHR TaskEnables you to create a NextGen® Enterprise EHR task from NextGen® Enterprise PM. These tasks do not have an assigned Task Type and does not appear on the Worklog Manager window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. They are displayed in the Workflow window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. When creating an NextGen® Enterprise EHR task, you must complete the Priority, Subject, Assigned To, and Details fields.
DashboardProvides graphical representation of data at the enterprise level. Is a business intelligence tool that organizes and presents information in a format that is easy to read and interpret.

File MaintenanceOpens File Maintenance.
Document ManagementOpens NextGen® Document Management.

Outlook DownloadTransfers appointment scheduling and to-do list information from NextGen® Enterprise PM to Microsoft Outlook®.
Patient Group Opens the Patient Group window to add or modify a group of patients to be used with a group appointment.
Send ClaimsEnables you to send claims electronically.
Transaction PostingEnables you to post transactions and record payments. Transactions are considered a payment or an adjustment to a patient's account.
Worklog ManagerEnables you to create automated or manual tasks and assign them to individual users or groups of users. Task assignment is specialized with activities directed to specific employees, based on their responsibilities. The Worklog Manager window enables your staff to view information regarding the tasks assigned and, when and how to perform the tasks. Some tasks can be scheduled for automatic generation and completion.
Eligibility Verification ManagerOpens the Eligibility Verification Manager Dashboard window.
Estimate Patient CostOpens the People Lookup window where you can select a patient or person. The Estimate Patient Cost window appears in the background.
DemandThe following Demand menu options enable you to review and manage bills on demand, itemized bills, letters and statements on demand.

Change PasswordEnables you to change your password.
Change PracticeEnables you to change the practice.
Session SettingsEnables you to set up your system session settings so that the Active Batch, Service Date, and Service Location gets selected automatically. Enabling the active batch, service date, and sevice location to be selected automatically makes data entry easier, especially if you have batch-entering charges on a date other than when the services were provided.
