Generate an Anesthesia Concurrency Audit Report

Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select the Encounter button on the main toolbar. The Encounter Lookup window opens. In the Bill Status field, select In Progress. In the Anesthesia Provider field, do one of the following: To run the report for all providers, leave the field blank. To run the report for specific providers, select check box for the desired providers. In the Date of Service From and To fields, enter the desired service date range for the audit report. Select Find. The Encounter List section of the window lists all encounters matching the search criteria entered. In the Encounter List section, select the encounters to include in the audit report. Right-click and select Anesthesia Concurrency Audit. The following prompt displays: Confirm concurrency audit report processing for the n selected encounter(s)? To continue, Select OK. Concurrency Audit Report

The purpose of the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit report is to display anesthesia charges, associated modifiers and dollar values for both the Rendering and MDA providers. You can verify information before committing the encounters to an unbilled status. If an encounter does not meet the criteria for an encounter to pass the audit, an error message displays on the report. This topic includes information about the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process, displaying a Gantt chart and manually voiding encounters. Gantt Chart You can display a Gantt chart to provide a graphical representation of concurrent anesthesia charges. The Gantt chart displays the concurrency number and patient name. The chart is from the MDA’s perspective showing all cases happening at the same time as the case one selected on the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit. The case that you are reviewing displays as the first line of the report. The CRNA's name displays in the chart on the line for each case. The concurrency number

Concurrency Audit Report Messages

Each charge line may have one or more messages on the report. The color coding identifies the status of the encounter after the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process is run. The encounter statuses are: Green: Indicates the encounter passed the audit. Blue: Indicates a warning message and the encounter should be reviewed. Red: Indicates the encounter failed the audit. The following table lists the error messages, the status of the encounter, and the reason the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process generated the message. Message Status Occurs when... Encounter successfully passed audit Pass (Green) There are no errors based on the Anesthesia Library rules. Encounter manually exempt from concurrency Warning (Blue) The Exempt from Concurrency check box was selected on the Charge Posting > Anesthesia Services Information window. May occur with an error message with a status of red. This indicates the encounter has concurrency errors, but it passed due to a manual exemption. Medical Direction

Concurrency Audit Process

The Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process utilizes the Claim Modifiers library to add modifiers and units to anesthesia charges based on the primary payer. These changes are made to charges after running the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process, if the encounter has a status of In Progress. When charges for a given date of service are complete you can run the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit report to identify overlaps and assign concurrency modifiers. Anesthesia Concurrency Audit Log Report

The Anesthesia Concurrency Audit Log report displays the anesthesia charges with associated modifiers and dollar values that populate the claims for both Rendering and MDA providers. It determines and displays the concurrency values and provides a record for use in billing audits. You can use this report to identify encounters that are medically directed and personally performed. It details the encounters that have passed or failed the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process. If one charge line on the encounter fails, the entire encounter fails the audit. The report compares all encounters that are run through the audit to all other concurrent encounters regardless of the encounter status. It runs on any encounter that has at least one anesthesia charge.
