Concurrency Audit Report Messages

Each charge line may have one or more messages on the report. The color coding identifies the status of the encounter after the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process is run. The encounter statuses are:

Green: Indicates the encounter passed the audit.

Blue: Indicates a warning message and the encounter should be reviewed.

Red: Indicates the encounter failed the audit.

The following table lists the error messages, the status of the encounter, and the reason the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process generated the message.

There are no errors based on the Anesthesia Library rules.
Encounter manually exempt from concurrencyWarning

(Blue)

The Exempt from Concurrency check box was selected on the Charge Posting > Anesthesia Services Information window.

May occur with an error message with a status of red. This indicates the encounter has concurrency errors, but it passed due to a manual exemption.

Medical Direction set manuallyWarning

(Blue)

The Medical Direction was manually selected on the Charge Posting > Anesthesia Service Information window.
Conflicting documentation modifier identifiedWarning

(Blue)

A modifier was manually entered during charge posting that is different from what the system generated modifier would have been.

However, this message can display on an unbilled encounter when the audit identifies a different modifier.

Conflicting medical direction identifiedFail

(Red)

A relief or discontinuous time case exists, and more than one medical direction scenario is possible.
Missing XX direction of single case documentation modifier on non-in progress chargeFail

(Red)

An encounter was converted from In Progress to Unbilled and the medical direction modifier is missing.
Provider cannot conduct multiple procedures concurrently.Fail

(Red)

The provider is rendering on two procedures at the same time.
Anesthesiologist Assistant rendering without medical directionFail

(Red)

A provider with a specialty of Anesthesiologist Assistant is rendering on a case and there is no medical director.
Provider cannot personally perform and medically directFail

(Red)

The provider is performing a procedure and also medically directing another procedure at the same time.
Max number of concurrent procedures exceededFail

(Red)

The concurrency number for this procedure is greater than the maximum that is set in the Anesthesia Library > Concurrency Rules tab, in the Max # of concurrent procedures field.
No Anesthesia Library payer configuration effective for date of serviceFail

(Red)

There is not a valid Anesthesia Library configuration for this encounter’s combination of payer and date of service.
