Concurrency Audit Report

The purpose of the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit report is to display anesthesia charges, associated modifiers and dollar values for both the Rendering and MDA providers. You can verify information before committing the encounters to an unbilled status. If an encounter does not meet the criteria for an encounter to pass the audit, an error message displays on the report.

This topic includes information about the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process, displaying a Gantt chart and manually voiding encounters.

Gantt Chart

You can display a Gantt chart to provide a graphical representation of concurrent anesthesia charges.
  • The Gantt chart displays the concurrency number and patient name.
  • The chart is from the MDA’s perspective showing all cases happening at the same time as the case one selected on the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit.
  • The case that you are reviewing displays as the first line of the report.
  • The CRNA's name displays in the chart on the line for each case.
  • The concurrency number displays in parentheses on the line in the chart. The concurrency number of the case at the top of the chart matches the report number. The concurrency number of the other cases may include cases not on the chart as they are not concurrent with the case that is displaying.

Manually Voiding Encounters

You can manually void the line that needs changes and re-key the line with the correct number of units and appropriate modifiers. This allows for accounts receivable to balance with the general ledger interfaces if charges do not go through the audit prior to the process date being applied.

Concurrency Audit Process

Use the following table to review how the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit report processes and analyzes encounters during the Anesthesia Concurrency Audit process.
Encounters analysis includes:Report processing...
AuditsProvides a record for use when billing audits. This is in addition to the Audit Log.
Color CodingIncludes color coding the encounters as green for pass, blue for warnings, and red for failed.
ComparisonCompares each encounter against all encounters for the medical director, date and time frame and for encounters in a status of hold, unbilled, rebill, billed or history.
Concurrency ValuesDetermines and displays the concurrency values.
Concurrent CasesIdentifies from 1-5 concurrent cases. If there are 6 or more cases, a warning message is issued.
FailureFails the entire encounter if one charge line on the encounter fails the audit.
IdentificationIdentifies encounters that are medically directed, or personally performed.
Modifier changesDisplays modifier changes made by the Anesthesia Modifier library.
ProcessingProcesses encounters with at least one anesthesia charge regardless of the rendering provider specialty.
Report MemorizationEach practice can memorize one report.
Running after the process dateReports the data when encounters are run through the audit after the process date set by auto close and modifier changes need to take place.
TroubleshootingDisplays the Anesthesia library settings that are utilized during the audit process.
