Configure Workgroup

  1. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > Systems > Workgroups.
    The Workgroups List window opens.

  2. Select the Open Menu button and select New.
    The Workgroup Configuration window opens.

  3. Enter a name for the workgroup in the Workgroup Name field.
  4. From the list of existing storage locations in each field, select a storage location for each of the following fields:
    • Scan To Location - The original location where the scanned images are sent.
    • File From Location - The location from which each scanned image is filed.
    • Cache Location - The local location where images are stored for quick access. When you specify a storage location as the Cache Location, NextGen® Document Management looks in the cache for a requested remote image. If it finds the image in the cache, image access time is greatly improved. If NextGen® Document Management does not locate the image in the cache, it looks in the main image archive.

Storage locations that are already assigned to a workgroup are not available for assignment. If the storage location you want to use does not exist in the list, you must create it.

  5. Enter the Maximum Active Transfer rate. This setting specifies the number of files that can be transferred from the remote location to the Practice Archive at one time.
  6. Enter 60 as the number of seconds for the Sleep Interval.

The Sleep Interval controls how much time passes between the completed transfer of one image and the start of another image being transferred. The Sleep Interval differs from the Transfer Interval you specify for Remote Connections in that the Transfer Interval controls how much time passes between segments of each individual image being transferred.

  7. Select a connection setting for the workgroup from the list of connections in the Remote Connection field. If a remote connection setup does not exist, you must create one.
  8. Enter the IP address or range of IP addresses that apply to the workgroup.

For workgroups that contain only a single IP address, enter that IP address in the Starting IP Address field.

For workgroups that contain multiple IP addresses, enter the lowest numbered IP address in the Starting IP Address field and the highest numbered IP address in the Ending IP Address field.

  9. Select OK.
