Provide Practice Access for Libraries

Even though the libraries are enterprise-wide, you might not want all practices to have access to every record. You can limit who has access to a library record through Practice Access. In File Maintenance, select Libraries and select the library. The List window opens. Select the applicable library and select open menu button or right-click to display the menu options. Select the Practice Access option. The Library Access by Practice window opens. Select the practices that will have access to this library. At least one practice must be selected. Note: You cannot remove practice access for a library if it is already assigned to that practice in the Libraries Practice Preferences. Select OK. Parent topic: Libraries

Determine Default Practice Libraries

To see which library is the default Go to File Maintenance, select Libraries, and then open the library. Note: To access SIM Exceptions, right-click on a service item in the Service Item Libraries list, then select SIM Exceptions. On the list window, a check mark appears in the Practice Default column for the item that is set as the default. If there is no check mark in the column, then a default has not been selected for that library type. If the Practice Default column does not appear, then that library type cannot be set as a default. Default Practice Libraries

In File Maintenance, the following libraries can be selected as default libraries: Claim Edits libraries Claim Printing libraries Diagnosis Codes libraries Service Items libraries SIM Exceptions libraries Open File Maintenance. Select Libraries. In Service Item Libraries, right-click the Service Item. Select SIM Exceptions. View Practice Default, a check mark appears for the item that is set as the default. Libraries

Libraries contain default settings. Although these libraries contain user-defined data, the application does provide some default libraries. Libraries can also be a subset of preloaded code sets, such as diagnosis codes. You can select the codes that your practice and others within your enterprise use and set them up in a library. In the example of diagnosis codes, a Diagnosis Code library is a subset of the full ICD9CM list located in master files. This subset can simplify the selection and maintenance of codes. Multiple practices in an enterprise can subscribe to an existing library instead of each practice setting up a new library that contains the same information. Note: You can print a list of each of the libraries by selecting open menu button , then selecting Print. The report filter for the library opens. Select your report settings and then select OK. Libraries are linked to the payer and specific to the current practice. You can select default libraries for the practice, and they will be used everywhere. Open the File Maintenance. Open the System > Practice > Payer master file > Practice. Select the Libraries tab. Select the necessary libraries and settings. Note: Libraries are available only when the current practice has practice access to them.
