Set up Chart Preferences

You can configure specific areas of a patient chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences > User > General. The User Preferences window opens. Select the Chart tab. User preferences Chart tab In theDefault Word Processorfield, select one of the following to use as the default processor when creating notes in patient charts: Wordpad Word ® In theEncounter List Default Displaysection, select from the following options for the default display of encounters in patient charts: Encounter Date: view encounters listed by date. Encounter Number (default): Select this check box to view encounters listed by number. Both: view encounters listed by date and number. Note: You must select at least one check box. If only one check box is selected and you clear it, then the other check box is automatically selected. Configuring User Preferences for the Patient Information Bar

You can set up user preferences to display the Patient Information Bar in the following areas in NextGen® Enterprise PM: Patient chart Charge entry Payment entry You can also select the following background color options for the Patient Information Bar. Default color Custom colors Web colors System colors The options available for selection in User Preferences are based on the settings in practice preferences. Add or Modify Chart Details

Open the Patient Information window for the desired patient. Select the Chart Details tab. In the Default Rendering Physician field, select a provider to default as the Rendering on new encounters created for the patient. The encounters are those created from the Patient Chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM and in the Appointment Book from appointments without a rendering provider. In the Default Referring Physician field, select a provider to default as the Referring on new encounters created for the patient. The encounters are those created from the Patient Chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM and in the Appointment Book from appointments without a referring provider. The Print Statements check box is selected by default. Do one of the following: To include encounters in the patient's chart on statements, select the check box. Set Up Patient Information Bar Practice Preferences for NextGen® Enterprise PM

From the Preference List, select Patient Information Bar, and then select PM tab. Select the Show Patient Information Bar check box. To display the Patient Information Bar on the Charge Posting, select the In Charge Entry check box. To display the Patient Information Bar on the Payment Entry, select the In Payment Entry check box. Define which information to display on the bar in the Patient Information section. Define which information to display on the bar in the Chart Link section. For each Field that you want to be accessible from the Patient Information Bar, do the following: In the Table field, select the Open File and then select a table. In the Field field, select a field from the table to display the field value on the Patient Information Bar. In the Display Label field, enter a label for the field on the Patient Information Bar. Patient Information Bar Buttons

The following buttons are available on the Patient Information Bar in NextGen® Enterprise PM: Buttons Image Function Alerts If one or more NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts exist for patients, the Alerts button appears in red color. If no alerts exist, the button appears in gray color. Note: You can hover over the red button to view the Type and Description of alerts. The types of alerts that appear in NextGen® Enterprise PM are determined by settings in practice preferences. The alerts also appear in NextGen® Enterprise EHR from the Patient Information Bar if enabled in practice preferences in the EHR tab.
