Modify Existing SIM Exceptions

In File Maintenance, select Libraries > Service Items. Select a library from the Service Item Libraries window. Right-click on your library selection, then select SIM Exceptions from the list. Press the TAB key until you get to the white area of the spreadsheet, then use the arrow keys to move the insertion point to the first cell you want to change. Enter all of your changes. Select OK. SIM Exception Setup Field Descriptions

You can use the following table when setting up SIM Exceptions. Field Description SIM Exception Name Enter a name for the SIM Exception that describes the group of exceptions. If there are fewer than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, all active SIM items automatically load into the grayed-out section of the spreadsheet area from the SIM Library. If there are more than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, the SIM codes do not automatically load into the spreadsheet. Instead, you must manually enter the SIM code or the first few digits of the code in the Filter Criteria box, which loads the spreadsheet with SIM items that match your entry. Hide Exception Select this check box if you want to hide the SIM Exception in the SIM Exceptions List. Note: You can also right-click in the Description area of the SIM Exceptions List, then select Hide. Setting Up an Exception through the SIM Library

In the SIM library, you can create a new SIM exception or modify existing ones. Note: You must set up all SIM Exceptions, Groups, and SIM Exception Groups before you attach them to a provider. For information on attaching the appropriate SIM to a provider, see the section Assigning Exceptions for the Provider, Payer, and Location in the File Maintenance Master Files Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Add SIM Groups

In File Maintenance, select Libraries, and then select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the applicable library, right-click and select SIM Groups. The SIM Groups List window opens. To create a new SIM Group, select open menu button , and select New. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. In SIM Group field, enter a short name of the SIM Group. In the Description field, enter a description of the SIM Group. To add a new SIM, select Open Folder and search for the SIM. To add the item to the group, use the blue Include arrow to move the item to the Available list. To remove a SIM item from the Available list by selecting the SIM item and then the blue Exclude arrow. The indicates the search type. If the icon is listed next to the SIM column, the system will search by SIM number. You can select the Description column, which enables you to search by the service item description. The service item must already exist in the Service Item Library before you can add it

Tax Exemption Setup for Locations

In File Maintenance, select Libraries > Tax Exemptions. The Tax Exemption List window opens. Select open menu button , and then select New. The Tax Exemption Library window opens. Select the Location tab, and then define which sales tax charges are exempt for the listed SIM codes. In the Tax Exempt SIMs section, select open menu button , and then select New to search for a SIM. The Tax Exempt SIMs Setup window opens. In the Service Item # field, select a SIM code that you want to specify sales tax exemptions for. The associated CPT4 code and description automatically display in the CPT4 Code and Description fields. Enter dates in the Effective Date and Expiration Date fields. Select one or more locations where the SIM has sales tax exemptions. Select in the field below each Tax Exempt field to select which sales taxes the SIM is exempt from. In File Maintenance > Libraries select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the applicable library, right-click and select SIM Groups. The SIM Groups List window opens. Double-click the SIM Group. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. To modify a SIM or add a new SIM, select Open Folder. The Service Items window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new SIM, search for the SIM. To add the item to the group, use the blue Include arrow to move the item to the Available list. The indicates the search type.
