Set an After Care Period for the SIM

You can attach an after care period, or number of days, during which a patient should not be charged for services related to a specific service item. When you access the charge window within an after care period, an alert displays. You should set after care periods for global procedures and other time-specific procedures.

  1. In File Maintenance, select Libraries > Service Items.
  2. Double-click the library.
    The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens.
  3. Use open menu button to select the service item number that you want to attach an after care period to.
  4. Enter the number of after care days associated with the service item in the After Care Period field. Valid entries for this field range from 0 to 365.

  5. If you have another service item number that you want to attach an after care period to, select the Add button. Otherwise, select OK.
    The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens again.
  6. Select Close.
