Create a Service Item Library

The Service Item Libraries are created using File Maintenance. Select File Maintenance > Libraries > Service Items. Select the Open Menu button and select New. Enter a name for this library in the SIM Library Name field. Select OK. The service item library is created. Create SIM Groups in a Service Item Library

Orders module charge posting also looks at SIM Groups which are set up in File Maintenance in the Service Item Libraries. You must first define a Service Item library, and add service items to the library before you can create a SIM group. Select File Maintenance > Libraries > Service Items. Right-click the Service Item library for which you want to create a SIM Group. The Service Items List window opens. Select SIM Groups from the list. Select the open menu button, and then select New. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. Define the SIM Group ID and Description. SIM Group. This is a numeric or alphabetic ID that you use to identify this SIM Group. Description. The description you choose for this SIM Group. Service Item #. This is the list of service items contained in this group. Select in the Service Item #. Add Custom VFC SIM Codes to a Service Item Library

If your practice administers immunizations to VFC eligible patients, you can create custom VFC SIM codes for billing purposes. The steps to add Custom VFC SIM codes to the SIM Library is similar to adding a new SIM code. Note: After adding the custom VFC SIM codes, be sure to verify that the NDC ID Number exists in the NDC Library. Select File Maintenance > Libraries > Service Items. From the Service Items List window, select the library to update. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Select open menu and select New. The three service item fields turn red. Do one of the following: In the CPT4 Code, enter a CPT4® code from your list of service items, and select Enter. Select the CPT4® code in the search results. The details for the selected CPT4® code appears. In the Service Item #, enter VFC as a suffix to the CPT4® Code. For example, 90657VFC. Verify the CPT4 Code in the Service Item Library

Prior to selecting and ordering Immunizations, verify the CPT4® in the SIM Library. Select File Maintenance > Libraries > Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Double-click the default Service Item Library for your practice. Note: The default Service Item Library is indicated by a green color check mark under the Practice Default column. Enter the CPT4® code in the Search field. If the code exists, it appears in CPT4 Code. To verify if your alternate Medicare Billing code exists, enter the Q code in the Search field. Note: If the CPT4® code or Q code does not exist, you must set up the Service Item Library. Add SIM Items to a SIM Library

After you have created a SIM library, you need to add service items and pricing information to the library. Select File Maintenance > Libraries > Service Items. From the Service Items List window, select the library to update.The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Select the open menu and select New.The three service item fields turn red. In the CPT4 Code field, enter a CPT4® code from your list of service items and then select Enter. The details for that CPT4® Code appears. In the General tab, do the following: In Eff Date, enter the effective date. In Exp. Date, enter the expiration date. In Non-Facility Price, enter the non-facility price in dollars. In Facility Price, enter the facility price in dollars. If you have more items to add, select Enter and repeat steps 4 to 6 for all service items you wish to add. Set Up a SIM Pricing Region

Create a Service Item library to use with the SIM Pricing Region Library. In the Libraries list, select SIM Pricing Region. The Pricing Regions Library List window opens. Select open menu button , and then select New. The Add Pricing Regions Library window opens. Enter a name in the Pricing Regions Library Name field. Select open menu button , and then select New. The Add Pricing Region window opens. Note: When you modify an existing region, the name of the window will be Pricing Regions Library Maintenance. Enter a name in the Pricing Region Description field, and then select a SIM library to use for the pricing region. Select open menu button , and then select New. The Add Pricing Region Location window opens. Select a location, and then enter the effective and expiration dates that control when the pricing region can use the location.
