Service Items Library

The Service Items library is the center of the billing functions. Within the Service Items library you can set up CPT4 codes for each practice, along with prices, and claim form designations. You can also group Service Items together under one main number or name. Libraries are available enterprise-wide, but each practice must designate which Service Items library to use by selecting it in the Libraries Practice Preferences. You can generate the Service Item Library Listing report from the Service Items library. Adding a New UB92 Service Item

Field Description Payer Select a payer that requires an alternate CPT4 code for the service item. This payer name prints in box 50 of the UB form. If you need to set multiple payers, fill out the information for the first payer, then select a new payer. The fields clear, but the first payer's information is saved. Note: After a payer has been saved on the Payer tab, you cannot remove that payer if, for example, the payer is no longer valid. Instead, you must expire the payer by changing the expiration date in the Exp field. Eff Enter the date that the alternate code becomes effective. Exp Enter the date that the alternate code for the payer ends. Form Select either the HCFA 1500 or UB form. For more information on adding UB information, refer to the next section. Alt CPT4 Enter the alternate CPT4 code to be used. This must be a valid CPT4 code. Set an After Care Period for the SIM

You can attach an after care period, or number of days, during which a patient should not be charged for services related to a specific service item. When you access the charge window within an after care period, an alert displays. You should set after care periods for global procedures and other time-specific procedures. In File Maintenance, select Libraries > Service Items. Double-click the library. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Use open menu button to select the service item number that you want to attach an after care period to. Enter the number of after care days associated with the service item in the After Care Period field. Valid entries for this field range from 0 to 365. If you have another service item number that you want to attach an after care period to, select the Add button. Otherwise, select OK. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens again. Set Up Behavioral Health SIM Codes

Behavioral Health SIM codes are set up by selecting the appropriate SIM Type and the default Behavioral Health Base Minutes for each code. Open File Maintenance. Select Libraries, and then Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. From the Service Items list, double-click to open the library. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Service Item Library Maintenance window If you want to modify an existing SIM code, enter the code in the Search field, and then select the code from the list. Displays existing parameters defined for the SIM code. If you want to create a SIM code, select Open Menu next to the Service Item # field, and the select New. In the CPT4 Code field, do one of the following. This field is required. Enter the CPT4 code to be used on claims. Select the Search button to search and select the CPT4 code to be used on claims. The following table describe the fields for setting up a Service Item Library. Field Description Search You can search for any specific SIM. If there are less than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, all active SIM items automatically appear in the Search list. If there are more than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, the SIM codes do not appear automatically. You must manually enter the SIM code or the first few digits of the code in the Search field. To find a specific SIM, enter the SIM code. To list all existing SIMs, enter an asterisk. SIM Library Name SIM Library name is a required field. Service Item For a new SIM, you can enter meaningful service item numbers and descriptions to correlate to the appropriate CPT4 code. This field is required. When you search for a SIM, this field displays the SIM that you search for. You can also select the open menu button, select New, and then enter a new service item Number.
