Import a Medicare RVU Comma Delimited Flat File

You can import an RVU comma delimited flat file to add RVU values to the CPT4 codes specified in the RVU flat file. For a successful import, the CPT4 code used in the flat file must exist in the CPT4 master file. Select Libraries > RVU to open the RVU Library List. Select the name of the library to import the values into. Note: If the library already contains RVU values, new imported values are appended to the existing ones. However, if an imported RVU is the same as an existing one but its value is different, the value is replaced with the imported one. Select open menu button , then select RVU Import. The Import RVU Scales window opens. In theComma Delimited Input Filefield, selectOpen Folderto browse for the flat file. TheSelect Filewindow opens. Locate and select the applicable flat file, and then selectOpen. The path for the file location displays in theComma Delimited Input Filefield. Select OK. To see the imported values, open the RVU library and locate the CPT4 code. The values

Create Custom RVUs for CPT4 Codes

In the RVU library, the RVU columns contain the numeric values used to determine rates. You can enter these values or you can import them. Note: You can change these RVU column names. To set up an RVU library: In File Maintenance, select Libraries > RVU. The RVU Library List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu button , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu button , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The RVU Library Maintenance window opens. Enter a library name. If you want to import RVUs into the library, select OK to return to the RVU Library List where you can import them. If you want to enter the individual RVUs, find the CPT4 code you want to associate with them: To list all CPT4 codes, clear the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. To limit the search to CPT4s that already have RVUs, select the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. To search for a CPT4 cod

Rename RVU Labels in the RVU Library

You can change the labels of the RVU fields in the RVU library. Open an RVU library. On the RVU Library Maintenance window, select the Labels tab. The Labels tab displays RVU fields. Enter new names in the fields for RVU 1, RVU 2, and so on as needed, and then select OK. The labels display on the General tab of the RVU Library Maintenance window and are used in the Service Items libraries for the SIM RVU update and the SIM Global Update. If there is no name in a field, the label displays with the default name in those locations. For example, if the RVU 5 field is blank, RVU5 is used in its place. Note: When the labels names are used in reports, they display with the default names of RVU1, RVU2, and so on. Parent topic: RVU Library

Delete RVUs from an RVU Library

Do one of the following: To delete all RVU values: Open an RVU library, select open menu button , and then select Delete. All the columns clear. To delete specific RVU values: Open an RVU library. In the Filter Criteria field, set the search criteria and begin typing the numbers of the CPT4s you want to delete. As you type, the list displays only the matching records. Continue typing until the list contains only the CPT4s you want to delete. When the list contains the CPT4s you want to delete, select the open menu button button, and then select Delete. Globally Update Pricing in a Contract Library

You can globally update the pricing in payer fee schedules in a contract library. This kind of update calculates the allowed and reimbursement amounts by using RVU and GPCI information. To globally update the pricing in a contract library: In File Maintenance, select Libraries > Contracts. Right-click the applicable library, and then select Contract Global Update. The Contract Global Update window opens. Enter a CPT4 code range by typing a CPT4 code in the CPT4 field and another CPT4 code in the Thru CPT4 field, and the effective date of the CPT4 codes in the Effective Date field. To use RVU and GPCI information to calculate the price, do the following: Select the RVU library. Select a GPCI library, if necessary, and then select a carrier or locality. If you want to use the RVU library to calculate the SIM RVU, select an RVU in the RVU field (this list of RVUs comes from the RVU library), and then the GPCI value in the GPCI field. Provider Productivity by RVU Report

The Provider Productivity by RVU ( Relative Value Unit) displays the provider's total RVUs per time period. The charge amount column on this new report should balance to the Daily Charges, Monthly Service Item Summary with Extended Amount and Transactions, and Monthly Transaction Summary reports. To access the report in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Reports menu and select Monthly and then select Provider Productivity by RVU. From the Report Filter window, select the Info button to view the following information about the report: Logic: This report allows for charges to report under the primary payer/financial class on the encounter. The report collects and displays data based on the column(s) and sorting type selected. It is the only summary report that allows showing charge info with RVU data.
