Import a Medicare RVU Comma Delimited Flat File

You can import an RVU comma delimited flat file to add RVU values to the CPT4 codes specified in the RVU flat file. For a successful import, the CPT4 code used in the flat file must exist in the CPT4 master file. Select Libraries > RVU to open the RVU Library List. Select the name of the library to import the values into. Note: If the library already contains RVU values, new imported values are appended to the existing ones. However, if an imported RVU is the same as an existing one but its value is different, the value is replaced with the imported one. Select open menu button , then select RVU Import. The Import RVU Scales window opens. In theComma Delimited Input Filefield, selectOpen Folderto browse for the flat file. TheSelect Filewindow opens. Locate and select the applicable flat file, and then selectOpen. The path for the file location displays in theComma Delimited Input Filefield. Select OK. Before you begin Ensure the comma-delimited flat file meets the following criteria: Carrier and locality must be merged into one column. For example, New Orleans, LA has a Carrier of 528 and Locality of 01. Merge the columns to read 52801. The columns must be in the following order: Carrier/Locality, Description, GPCI Work, GPCI PE, and GPCI PLI. Remove column headings. Remove commas between state and city. Open File Maintenance and select Libraries > GPCI to open the GPCI Library List. Select the library to import the values into. Note: If the library already contains GCPI values, the newly imported values are appended to the existing ones. However, if an imported carrier or locality is the same as an existing one but its values are different, then the values are replaced with the imported ones. Create Custom RVUs for CPT4 Codes

In the RVU library, the RVU columns contain the numeric values used to determine rates. You can enter these values or you can import them. Note: You can change these RVU column names. To set up an RVU library: In File Maintenance, select Libraries > RVU. The RVU Library List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu button , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu button , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The RVU Library Maintenance window opens. Enter a library name. If you want to import RVUs into the library, select OK to return to the RVU Library List where you can import them. If you want to enter the individual RVUs, find the CPT4 code you want to associate with them: To list all CPT4 codes, clear the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. RVU is an index that measures the relative amount of resource costs (work, professional, liability, and practice expense) that go into providing each service offered by a physician. Open File Maintenance and then select Libraries > RVU. The RVU Library List window opens. Select the open menu button to add or open an existing RVU library. The RVU Library Maintenance window opens. Enter a library name. You can rename RVU labels in the Labels tab of the RVU Library Maintenance window. To enter individual RVUs, locate the CPT4 code you want to associate them with. The units are an index that measures the relative amount of resource costs (work, professional, liability, and practice expense) that go into providing each service offered by a physician. You can import a comma delimited flat file to add GPCI values to an existing GPCI library. Make sure your comma delimited flat file meets the following criteria: Carrier and Locality must be merged into one column. For example, New Orleans, LA has a Carrier of 528 and Locality of 01.
