Create Custom RVUs for CPT4 Codes

In the RVU library, the RVU columns contain the numeric values used to determine rates. You can enter these values or you can import them. Note: You can change these RVU column names. To set up an RVU library: In File Maintenance, select Libraries > RVU. The RVU Library List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu button , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu button , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The RVU Library Maintenance window opens. Enter a library name. If you want to import RVUs into the library, select OK to return to the RVU Library List where you can import them. If you want to enter the individual RVUs, find the CPT4 code you want to associate with them: To list all CPT4 codes, clear the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. To limit the search to CPT4s that already have RVUs, select the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. To search for a CPT4 cod

Rename RVU Labels in the RVU Library

You can change the labels of the RVU fields in the RVU library. Open an RVU library. On the RVU Library Maintenance window, select the Labels tab. The Labels tab displays RVU fields. Enter new names in the fields for RVU 1, RVU 2, and so on as needed, and then select OK. The labels display on the General tab of the RVU Library Maintenance window and are used in the Service Items libraries for the SIM RVU update and the SIM Global Update. If there is no name in a field, the label displays with the default name in those locations. For example, if the RVU 5 field is blank, RVU5 is used in its place. Note: When the labels names are used in reports, they display with the default names of RVU1, RVU2, and so on. Parent topic: RVU Library

Delete RVUs from an RVU Library

Do one of the following: To delete all RVU values: Open an RVU library, select open menu button , and then select Delete. All the columns clear. To delete specific RVU values: Open an RVU library. In the Filter Criteria field, set the search criteria and begin typing the numbers of the CPT4s you want to delete. As you type, the list displays only the matching records. Continue typing until the list contains only the CPT4s you want to delete. When the list contains the CPT4s you want to delete, select the open menu button button, and then select Delete. Relative Value Units (RVU) are a methodology for defining payment allowances for physicians. The units are an index that measures the relative amount of resource costs (work, professional, liability, and practice expense) that go into providing each service offered by a physician. Import a GPCI Comma Delimited Flat File

You can import a comma delimited flat file to add GPCI values to an existing GPCI library. Make sure your comma delimited flat file meets the following criteria: Carrier and Locality must be merged into one column. For example, New Orleans, LA has a Carrier of 528 and Locality of 01. The two values would be combined in one column to become 52801. There are five columns and the data in each row must be in the following order: Carrier/Locality, Description, GPCI Work, GPCI PE, and GPCI PLI. Commas must be removed. For example, NEW ORLEANS, LA would become NEW ORLEANS LA. The column headings must be removed. Select Libraries > GPCI to open the GPCI Library List. Select the name of the library to import the values into. Note: If the library already contains GCPI values, new imported values are appended after the existing ones. However, if an imported carrier or locality is the same as an existing one but its value is different, the value is replaced with the imported one. Select open menu

Attaching Taxonomy Codes to Groups

From the Master Files list, select Practice > Groups. Select the group. If you want to select a default taxonomy code for the group, select a code from the Taxonomy Code field. A taxonomy code added to the default location with a specific payer row applies only for that payer across all locations. The code overrides the taxonomy code at the top of the group screen for that payer. If you want to select a taxonomy code for the group at the location level: Select a service location. Then double-click a payer name in the Payer column. And then select the code from the Taxonomy Code field. A taxonomy code added to the default payer row at a specific location applies for all payers at that location. The code can also be payer-specific at a specific location. The most specific setting is always selected above the other settings. If you want to set taxonomy codes for specific procedure ranges, select the CPT4 Group Information button.
