Create Custom RVUs for CPT4 Codes

In the RVU library, the RVU columns contain the numeric values used to determine rates. You can enter these values or you can import them. Note: You can change these RVU column names. To set up an RVU library: In File Maintenance, select Libraries > RVU. The RVU Library List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu button , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu button , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The RVU Library Maintenance window opens. Enter a library name. If you want to import RVUs into the library, select OK to return to the RVU Library List where you can import them. If you want to enter the individual RVUs, find the CPT4 code you want to associate with them: To list all CPT4 codes, clear the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. To limit the search to CPT4s that already have RVUs, select the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. To search for a CPT4 cod

Rename RVU Labels in the RVU Library

You can change the labels of the RVU fields in the RVU library. Open an RVU library. On the RVU Library Maintenance window, select the Labels tab. The Labels tab displays RVU fields. Enter new names in the fields for RVU 1, RVU 2, and so on as needed, and then select OK. The labels display on the General tab of the RVU Library Maintenance window and are used in the Service Items libraries for the SIM RVU update and the SIM Global Update. If there is no name in a field, the label displays with the default name in those locations. For example, if the RVU 5 field is blank, RVU5 is used in its place. Note: When the labels names are used in reports, they display with the default names of RVU1, RVU2, and so on. Parent topic: RVU Library

Import a Medicare RVU Comma Delimited Flat File

You can import an RVU comma delimited flat file to add RVU values to the CPT4 codes specified in the RVU flat file. For a successful import, the CPT4 code used in the flat file must exist in the CPT4 master file. Select Libraries > RVU to open the RVU Library List. Select the name of the library to import the values into. Note: If the library already contains RVU values, new imported values are appended to the existing ones. However, if an imported RVU is the same as an existing one but its value is different, the value is replaced with the imported one. Select open menu button , then select RVU Import. The Import RVU Scales window opens. In theComma Delimited Input Filefield, selectOpen Folderto browse for the flat file. TheSelect Filewindow opens. Locate and select the applicable flat file, and then selectOpen. The path for the file location displays in theComma Delimited Input Filefield. Select OK. RVU Library

Relative Value Units (RVU) are a methodology for defining payment allowances for physicians. The units are an index that measures the relative amount of resource costs (work, professional, liability, and practice expense) that go into providing each service offered by a physician. You can: Create RVUs Import RVUs Rename RVU Labels in the RVU Library Notes: If you created RVU values in a version of File Maintenance before version 5.5, the RVU values that were created in the CPT4 Code master file are saved in the new RVU library named ''Original CPT4 RVU Values''. Delete GPCIs from a GPCI Library

To delete GPCI values, do one of the following: To delete all GPCI values: Open a GCPI library. Select open menu button , and then select Delete. All the columns clear. To delete specific GPCI values: Open a GCPI library. In the Filter Criteria field, enter the numbers of the carrier or locality you want to delete. As you enter, the list displays only the matching records. Continue typing until the list contains only the values you want to delete. Delete a Service Unit Detail from a Service Package Configuration

Deleting a Service Unit Detail row also deletes all CPT4/Modifier combinations within the detail. Open File Maintenance. Select Libraries, and then Service Package. The Service Package List window opens. From the list, select a library and then do one of the following: Select open menu button and select Open. Right-click and select Open. The Service Package Maintenance window opens. From the list, select a service package configuration and then do one of the following: Select open menu button and select Open. Right-click and select Open. The Service Package Configuration Maintenance window opens. From the list, select a service unit detail to delete and then do one of the following: Select Open Menu and select Delete. Right-click and select Delete. The following prompt displays: Confirm delete of the Service Package Rule [Name]? To continue, select OK. The service unit detail is deleted and removed from the service package configuration.
