Create Custom RVUs for CPT4 Codes

In the RVU library, the RVU columns contain the numeric values used to determine rates. You can enter these values or you can import them. Note: You can change these RVU column names. To set up an RVU library: In File Maintenance, select Libraries > RVU. The RVU Library List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu button , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu button , and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. The RVU Library Maintenance window opens. Enter a library name. If you want to import RVUs into the library, select OK to return to the RVU Library List where you can import them. If you want to enter the individual RVUs, find the CPT4 code you want to associate with them: To list all CPT4 codes, clear the Only Show CPT4s with RVUs check box. Delete RVUs from an RVU Library

Do one of the following: To delete all RVU values: Open an RVU library, select open menu button , and then select Delete. All the columns clear. To delete specific RVU values: Open an RVU library. In the Filter Criteria field, set the search criteria and begin typing the numbers of the CPT4s you want to delete. As you type, the list displays only the matching records. Continue typing until the list contains only the CPT4s you want to delete. When the list contains the CPT4s you want to delete, select the open menu button button, and then select Delete. Import a Medicare RVU Comma Delimited Flat File

You can import an RVU comma delimited flat file to add RVU values to the CPT4 codes specified in the RVU flat file. For a successful import, the CPT4 code used in the flat file must exist in the CPT4 master file. Select Libraries > RVU to open the RVU Library List. Select the name of the library to import the values into. Note: If the library already contains RVU values, new imported values are appended to the existing ones. However, if an imported RVU is the same as an existing one but its value is different, the value is replaced with the imported one. Select open menu button , then select RVU Import. The Import RVU Scales window opens. In theComma Delimited Input Filefield, selectOpen Folderto browse for the flat file. TheSelect Filewindow opens. Locate and select the applicable flat file, and then selectOpen. The path for the file location displays in theComma Delimited Input Filefield. Select OK. To see the imported values, open the RVU library and locate the CPT4 code. The values

Labels Tab - SIM Library

You can change the labels of the eight RVU fields for a specific Service Items library. These RVU labels display in the SIM RVU update. Open a Service Items library. On the Service Item Library Maintenance window, select the Labels tab. The Labels tab displays RVU fields. Enter new names in the fields for RVU 1, RVU 2, and so on as needed, and then select OK. The labels display in the current Service Items library. They also display as column headings in various reports. Relative Value Units (RVU) are a methodology for defining payment allowances for physicians. The units are an index that measures the relative amount of resource costs (work, professional, liability, and practice expense) that go into providing each service offered by a physician. Service Item Library Maintenance Field Descriptions

The following table describe the fields for setting up a Service Item Library. Field Description Search You can search for any specific SIM. If there are less than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, all active SIM items automatically appear in the Search list. If there are more than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, the SIM codes do not appear automatically. You must manually enter the SIM code or the first few digits of the code in the Search field. To find a specific SIM, enter the SIM code. To list all existing SIMs, enter an asterisk. SIM Library Name SIM Library name is a required field. Service Item For a new SIM, you can enter meaningful service item numbers and descriptions to correlate to the appropriate CPT4 code. This field is required. When you search for a SIM, this field displays the SIM that you search for. You can also select the open menu button, select New, and then enter a new service item Number. Hide SIM You can select this check box to hide the SIM. I
