Receiving and Applying Charges from NextGen® Enterprise EHR

When the Suppress Billing option is not selected in the Service Item Library Maintenance window in File Maintenance or in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, unapplied encounter credits for charges entered for a patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR generate automatically in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The information in the field associated with each charge is carried over from NextGen® Enterprise EHR to NextGen® Enterprise PM. When charges are sent from NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the charges enter NextGen® Enterprise PM in one of the following methods:

  • Automatically applied. When the holding tank is Off and the charges coming from NextGen® Enterprise EHR have an unapplied encounter credit, a batch with an ID of AUCR is automatically created.
  • Placed in the holding tank until the users manually accept each charge. When the holding tank is On, a batch is not automatically created. You must have an active batch in NextGen® Enterprise PM so that the charges can be applied when you accept the charges either manually or by running the pending charges process.
