Receiving and Applying Charges from NextGen® Enterprise EHR
If you have not turned on Suppress Billing in the Service Item Library Maintenance window in File Maintenance or in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the unapplied encounter credits for charges entered for patients in NextGen® Enterprise EHR are sent to NextGen® Enterprise PM along with all the information associated with each charge.
The charges sent from NextGen® Enterprise EHR are input into NextGen® Enterprise PM with one of the following methods:
- Automatically applied
- When EHR manual charge processing is turned off in enterprise and practice preferences, the holding tank is off. If the charges coming from NextGen® Enterprise EHR have an unapplied encounter credit, a batch with an ID of Auto Apply Unapp Enc Credit Batch (AUCR) is automatically created.
- Manually accepted
- When EHR manual charge processing is turned on in enterprise and practice preferences, the holding tank is on, and a batch is not automatically created. You must have an active batch in NextGen® Enterprise PM so that the charges can be applied when you accept the charges either manually or by running the pending charges process.
