Additional In Progress Status Security Rights

The security rights associated with the In Progress billing status enable you to control which users can:

  • Set new encounters to be In Progress encounters
  • change the In Progress status
  • recalculate charges on In Progress encounters

In Progress Encounter rights are set up in System Administrator on the Rights tab in Operations > Encounters.

In Progress Indicator on New Encounter Security Right

  • In Progress Indicator on New Encounter – If the status of new encounters is not set to In Progress by default, you can allow users with the appropriate security right to manually set the status on new encounters to In Progress. These users can select the In Progress check box on the Create Encounter window to create an In Progress encounter.

Convert In Progress Security Rights

  • Convert In Progress Batch Process – Enables users to change the status of multiple encounters from In Progress to Unbilled. Users will be able to right-click on selected encounters displayed in the Encounter Lookup window in the Encounters List and then select Convert in Progress to Unbilled.
  • Convert In Progress Demand Process – Enables users to change the status of an encounter from In Progress to Unbilled. Users will be able to right-click an encounter on the patient chart > Encounters tab and select Convert in Progress to Unbilled.
  • Convert In Progress Indicator – Enables users to modify (select or clear) the Convert In Progress check box on the Encounter Maintenance window.

Recalculate In Progress Encounter Security Right

  • Recalculate In Progress Encounter – Enables NextGen® Enterprise PM users to manually recalculate all charges on an In Progress encounter. When users have this security right and right-click an encounter, the Recalculate In Progress Encounter menu item displays.

Even if a user does not have this security right, NextGen® Enterprise PM still automatically recalculates the charges when an encounter status changes from In Progress to Unbilled.
