Alerts in NextGen® Enterprise PM are application messages that appear as windows to display important information related to the user's current task.
You can control the display of Chart, Account, Appointment Scheduling, Managed Care, Payer, and System application messages in NextGen® Enterprise PM and NextGen® Optical Management. You can also select system-generated alerts for your patients.
The NextGen® Enterprise PM messages can also be displayed in NextGen® Enterprise EHR on the Patient Information Bar.

In Chart Alerts, you can set preferences for what application messages appear when users open a patient account, chart, encounter, task, or appointment in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
You can set preferences for system-generated messages under Chart Alerts.
Field Name | Description |

Expired | Display application messages indicating that the patient is marked as deceased or dead in the People Maintenance window. |
Co-managed | Displays an application message indicating that the patient is marked as co-managed in the Chart Details window. |
Unapplied Pmts | Displays an application message indicating that some payments have not been applied for the patient. |

After Care Days | Displays an application message indicating that the patient is charged for a service item with an after-care period attached to it. |
Pending EHR Charges | Displays an application message when a user opens an encounter in NextGen® Enterprise PM that has pending charges from NextGen® Enterprise EHR.

Privacy Notice | Displays an application message every time a user opens the chart for a patient who has not been issued a privacy notice. You can select either Issued or Received. Days Ago - allows you to enter the number of days after which the message is sent to user. |
Patient Balance | Displays application messages with the patient balances for each practice that a user has access to.

Open Cases | Displays application messages with all open cases on the patient's chart. The list includes the case description, case employer, onset date, and case status so that the user can identify exactly which cases exist. |
You can customize the application messages that appear for users accessing patient accounts, guarantor information, and tasks.
You can set preferences for system-generated messages under Account Alerts.

You can set system-generated messages under Authorization Alerts to appear when the patient's authorizations reach a specified threshold and the patient is close to reaching the maximum number of authorizations. The application messages are displayed when a user schedules a patient, checks a patient in, attaches insurance, and, for the unit mode, enters procedures in Charge Entry.
Contract edits are rules that prevent improper payments and ensure compliance with coding guidelines. You can set preferences for application messages related to Managed Care contract edits.

Under Appointment Scheduling, you can set system-generated messages to appear. These application messages relate to future patient appointments, dates set for active recall plans, active wait list items, patient no-shows, and cancellations.
Under Payer options, you can determine when payer-related application messages appear. The actual text for payer messages related to check-in, check-out, and appointment scheduling are taken from the Payer Defaults tab of the Add/Modify Payer Information window in the master files.
Under Show alerts every time a chart, encounter, or account is accessed, you can set the application messages that you want to appear. The default setting for displaying these messages is one time per session, per practice, which is the first time the patient's chart, encounter, or account is opened.
