Document a Call

On the Telephone Communications template, Communication panel, click New Call to document the details of the call. Click the Call Type field and select a type of call from the list. The links in the left pane and the corresponding options appear based on the selected Call Type. Select an option for each of the following fields: Contact Type Urgency Spoke With Note: The required fields are highlighted by bolded column headings. You must document these fields before you can save the call information in the grid. Click the Contact Information link. Select an option for each column, Preferred Contact and Alternate Contact. Click the links from the left pane to document the call details. Each link has different options which you can select to build the call information. Enter comments in the text field below the grid. Enter Communication Details

Providers can record call information, communication history, medication, allergy details, and more in the Communication panel of the Telephone Call template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Telephone Call template, expand the Communication panel. Select a communication category link to open the corresponding template. Enter the call information, communication history, medication, and allergy details. In Tasking, select a task priority, and then select Send & Close. The Select Task Recipient window opens. Select a recipient, select Add, and then select OK. Select Save & Close. Select Display, and select a communication category. To send a letter to the patient when the patient cannot be contacted, select the Send letter to patient due to inability to contact check box. A letter indicating the inability to contact the patient by telephone is generated and sent to the patient. Telephone Communication

You can view and document the communication between a practice and a patient or a patient's representative. Depending on your preference, you can view and document telephone interaction details on the Telephone Call or Telephone Communication template. With the Telephone Call template you can document the reason for a call, add additional comments, and create tasks to assign to a patient's task list. You can access the template from the Template module. Telephone Call With the Telephone Communication template, you can quickly document details of telephone interactions with patients. The template includes the communication component that works seamlessly with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine to streamline the documentation process. You can access this template from the Template module for all specialties. NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine ships with the Telephone Call template as the default. Managing Telephone Call Details

You can document telephone communication details with patients on the Telephone Call template. You can do the following on a telephone call: Discuss and document provider and nursing comments, Care Guidelines, and patients' post-op days, immunizations with their due dates, and patient reminders. Document communication details such as call information, communication history, medication, and allergy details. Create and share lab orders. Create and share diagnostics, office services, immunizations, surgical procedures, referrals, and patient education. Add Communication Modes for Management Plans

You can add modes of communication for the patient management plan in the Management Plan Communication template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To open the Templates module on a patient encounter, do one of the following: On the Categories or Encounter History tab, select Open Template. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . On the main menu, select File > New > Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select All. Select Management Plans, and then select OK.The Management Plans template opens. Select the values for Specialty and Visit Type, and then select a management plan in the grid. Manage Actions The Manage Actions grid expands displaying the management plan. Documenting the NextGen® Enterprise Communication Component

The Communication panel includes the NextGen® Enterprise communication component. The top section displays the call details. Since a single encounter can have multiple expandable or collapsible call threads, you can filter the call details by Call Type and Status for all encounters. The View Call History Prior to v7.4 link enables you to review call details entered on a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine version prior to 7.4. The link must be configured to appear in the Communication panel. View Call History Use the New Task button to create new tasks or to assign tasks to other users or groups. If a user assigns a telephone task to a workgroup or individual for further action or review, the documented telephone communication appears in the Inbox of the assigned person or practice.
